Another former Putin ally dies after ‘falling down several flights of stairs’ as eight cronies are mysteriously killed
A FORMER Putin ally and top aviation expert has died in Moscow, becoming the latest of the Russian president's associates to meet his end in a mysterious fashion since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Anatoly Gerashchenko, the former rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), died after reportedly falling down a series of flights of stairs on Tuesday.

It takes courage to protest when the dictator has essentially banned any dissent. (This is sabang's "brave new world", but he's too fucking dumb to understand it).
Protesters have clashed with police in Moscow as anger erupted over Vladimir Putin's declaration of a partial mobilisation in Russia.
Crowds took to the streets of the Russian capital after the Kremlin announced 300,000 reserves would be called up to continue its invasion of Ukraine.
Demonstrators shouted "No to war" in a show of defiance as some were pinned to the ground or dragged away after being detained by armed police.
At least 300 people in Moscow were among more than 1,371 detained across 38 cities nationwide on Wednesday night.

It is pointless for an Army Reservist- who has voluntarily joined the Reserves, and accepted certain benefits and privileges in return, to protest being 'called up'. If you don't want to be called up, don't join the Reserves! I suspect most of the protesters are good old fashioned Peaceniks- and nothing wrong with that. Greater efforts should be being made to end this war through negotiation.
The 'words of one man' are hardly negotiation, which involves more than one party.
So you still haven't cottoned on then?
You must be soo desperately hoping your, erm, prognosis will turn out better than the last time you were saying that.....

The last time I said that, Russia was being decisively defeated in Kyiv oblast. It fit then and it fits now. Russia is fucked and your shit narrative has completely collapsed. It is only a matter of time before they will be completely vanquished on the battlefield and permanently driven out of Ukraine.
The game is up.
"The game is up". Stored, for posterity.![]()
Outside of lobbing nukes, I am not sure Russia is up to a battle with anyone. Their army has been shown to be in sad shape.
So let us not even expend the energy discussing it. Putin wants to enjoy his monster mansion in Sochi, he is not going to engage in mutually assured self-destruction. Let us remember that dictators really are unable to see their own demise. Ceausescu, Gaddafi, Saddam etc. never saw it coming and Putin will not be any different.
We don't know. He keeps making threats, he keeps doubling down. He claims his red line is any attack on Russia. Since he regards Crimea as 'Russia' and the Donbas soon to be 'Russia' that red line will be crossed.
As Harry has mentioned, the next question is: Will the generals be mad enough to press the button when ordered? It only takes one.
The Russians will end of nuking themselves with the way things are going.

Vladimir Putin is very dangerous right now….to his own military.
Russia’s military divided as Putin struggles to deal with Ukraine’s counteroffensive, US sources say
Russia’s military is divided over how best to counter Ukraine’s unexpected battlefield advances this month, according to multiple sources familiar with US intelligence, as Moscow has found itself on the defensive in both the east and the south.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is himself giving directions directly to generals in the field, two sources familiar with US and western intelligence said– a highly unusual management tactic in a modern military that these sources said hints at the dysfunctional command structure that has plagued Russia’s war from the beginning.
Intelligence intercepts have captured Russian officers arguing among themselves and complaining to friends and relatives back home about decision-making from Moscow, one of these sources told CNN.
And there are significant disagreements on strategy with military leaders struggling to agree on where to focus their efforts to shore up defensive lines, multiple sources familiar with US intelligence said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed that it is redeploying forces toward Kharkiv in the northeast – where Ukraine has made the most dramatic gains – but US and western sources say the bulk of Russian troops still remain in the south, where Ukraine has also mounted offensive operations around Kherson.
Putin announced a partial mobilization on Wednesday that is expected to include the call-up of up to 300,000 reservists. He has for months resisted taking that step and Biden administration officials said Wednesday that the fact he has moved to do so now highlights the severity of Russia’s manpower shortages and signals a growing desperation.

I love the way the Americans on this thread are treating this as a game of gridiron, complete with pompom girls. It is a lot more serious than that, and using Ukrainian lives as your pawns in a meat grinder is distasteful to say the least. If you think 'victory' is just around the corner you are delusional.
Coming from the idiot who was cheerleading this invasion from the start - even though he thought it wasn't going to happen - that's almost as funny as hoohoo taking a sudden interest in sovereign states.
The fact is Putin has made a fucking mess of things and Ukraine are making his military look feeble and disorganised.

No statements by the Russian military and political leadership will affect Ukraine's resolve to fight for its freedom.
That’s according to Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, who issued a statement via Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"For 8 years and 7 months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been repelling Russia’s armed aggression against our country. The enemy’s full-scale offensive didn’t frighten us. Moreover, we united and confronted the enemy with dignity. The mobilization announcement in Russia is a confirmation of this, fact" said Zaluzhnyi.
He noted that hundreds of thousands of men and women are protecting their native land, their homes, their children, and the future of Ukraine.
"Therefore, no statements by the military and political leadership of the aggressor power will affect our resolve to fight for our freedom. We will destroy anyone who comes to our land up in arms – be it voluntarily or through mobilization," said Zaluzhnyi.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russian President Putin this morning made a statement in support of "referenda" on accession to Russia of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as declared partial mobilization in Russia starting September 21.
The statement was accompanied by unveiled nuclear blackmail as he threatened to employ nuclear weapons to "protect Russian territories."

Putin’s Latest Keynote Speech Concisely Summarized The State Of Strategic Play In Ukraine
After reflecting on his words, there’s no doubt that the state of strategic play in Ukraine remains in Russia’s favor, which is the reason why the state of strategic play across the world also remains in favor of the emerging multipolar order.
President Putin addressed his compatriots Wednesday morning in a nationally televised speech that culminated in him informing them of his decision to partially mobilize their country’s experienced reserves. He also promised to respect the democratic will of the people inhabiting the liberated areas of Ukraine’s former Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk, and Zaporozhye Regions if they vote in their forthcoming referenda this weekend to unify with Russia. It was a keynote speech and indisputably his most important one since announcing the start of his country’s special operation on 24 February.
In fact, the first fifth of his latest speech rehashed the highlights of the aforementioned one by reminding his fellow Russians why he made the fateful decision that he did. Upon refreshing their memories, he then updated them on the state of strategic play in Ukraine. Their newly restored world power’s slow but steady progress over the past seven months was explained by the need to carefully erode Kiev’s “deeply echeloned line of fortified defenses” and thus avert heavy losses. President Putin also mentioned how this minimized civilian casualties due to Kiev’s policy of taking human shields.
Another point that he brought up was that a peaceful solution was almost found early on into the special operation throughout the course of the Istanbul talks, but the West scuttled this outcome by ordering Kiev to wreck all the agreements “after certain compromises were coordinated”. The last part could be interpreted as a vague reference to the Russian Armed Forces’ prior pullback from the Ukrainian capital that Moscow insisted was a goodwill gesture aimed at facilitating the peace process and which in hindsight also served the purpose of a military feint.
The conflict continued after that point purely because NATO pumped its proxy full of arms, fighters, and intelligence. This coincided with Kiev cracking down on dissidents much more ruthlessly than it ever had before, which thus far climaxed in the atrocities that are presently being carried out against civilians in the Kharkov Region following Russia’s recent setback there. In fact, it’s that ongoing violence that President Putin said pushed the people from the liberated Ukrainian regions that historically were part of Novorossiya into organizing this weekend’s referenda on joining Russia in order to seek protection.
With the line of contact now stretching over 1,000 kilometers and pitting Russia against “the entire military machine of the Collective West” as President Putin rightly described it, the decision was made to commence the partial mobilization of his country’s experienced reserves. He explained their compensation and rights in order to reassure his compatriots that they’ll be treated with the highest respect for defending their country from the existential threat posed by the US-led NATO proxy war on Russia through Ukraine.
About that, President Putin also raised maximum awareness of how the West is encouraging Kiev to directly attack their country, including through the spree of terrorist attacks it carried out in the border areas. He also informed his compatriots that the West is actively surveilling Russia’s southern regions in real time through the most modern systems in preparation of attacking them exactly as Washington, London, and Brussels have openly talked about their Ukrainian proxy doing. In fact, some leading NATO countries are even discussing the possibly of nuking Russia, which he described as “nuclear blackmail”.
It'll never succeed, President Putin said, since he reminded everyone about his country’s own cutting-edge weapons and explicitly said that he’ll employ all means at his disposal to defend the Russian people and their territorial integrity. Considering the context of the upcoming referenda being held in the liberated areas of those four former Ukrainian regions on joining Russia, it can be understood that he was implying that they’ll also be covered under Moscow’s nuclear umbrella in the likely event that their people vote to unify with their historical Motherland.
President Putin then closed by referencing his global revolutionary manifesto from July about Russia’s role in the systemic transition to multipolarity by declaring that “It is our historical tradition and the destiny of our nation to stop those who are keen on global domination and threaten to split up and enslave our Motherland. Rest assured that we will do it this time as well.” After reflecting on his words, there’s no doubt that the state of strategic play in Ukraine remains in Russia’s favor, which is the reason why the state of strategic play across the world also remains in favor of the emerging multipolar order.
