The Chinese invented gunpowder, we invented guns to use the gunpowder in, etc.

Get your eyes into Charles Murray's Human Accomplishment. The Chinese are represented, as are the Japanese and Indians. But predominately, most human 'accomplishments' down through the ages were centered in the North Western European area. And lately, from the United States, mostly in North Eastern part.
