Such as, say, President of the United States. Very specifically points to one federal law, Title 18. Section 2071.

As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.”
Yes, it explicitly states "shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States."

No doubt but even though Trump has been partially responsible for bringing out a record number of GOP primary voters the question is, will all GOP primary voters vote Trump in the general election? At the moment appears not. The never Trump movement is strong in the GOP. With only 90 days until the election coupled chaos within Trump's campaign very unlikely things will change. Assuming Sanders brings his supporters to Clinton, she will win in a landslide.

Saw Trump claiming on TV he has spent $10 mil of his own money on the campaign. Another lie. He loaned the money to the campaign. Assuming the GOP doesn't figure a way to get Trump out of the game, he will make damn sure he raises and keeps enough in the campaign war chest to recoup his loan.
