The resurgence/preponderance of fanatic religious beliefs is a strange twist to a supposedly evolving and progressive society.
How will it all play out?
Maybe we'll all take sides and kill each other.
Or maybe we'll gather at places like Speaker's Corner and work it out as one.
Personally I'm with the Bill Hicks school of thought regarding the likely outcome.
"We're a virus with shoes"
It ain’t looking good
Secularism is the only way to approach a truly global community. Nothing wrong whatsoever with personal spiritual beliefs, but to co-exist, global solutions must be found without resort to religion.
If the religious fervor continues to escalate, there can be only one outcome. It will involve beheadings, crucifixions and a return to the Stone Age.
But then again, maybe Bob Marley was right, and “Total Destruction Is the Only Solution” and the Phoenix will always rise stronger from the ashes?
