when the Nazi death camps were running in full burning mode, rumors about them in Germany and else where claimed to be "not possible" or simply "conspiracy theory", the German population didn't know anything about them, and yet it was happening right under their nose

Even the allies didn't believe those "conspiracy theories", so imagine their shock when eventually they discovered it was all true.

The analogy is so bizarre and stupid that it really does not warrant a response....

Anyway....To the best of my knowledge the Nazi death camps were not subject to much in the way of scrutiny....not a lot of reporters, cameramen and suchlike hanging about.... The average camp tended to be well away from the general population and not once was any of them shown on live TV...... OH, then there was that little business of it all happening in the middle of a gigantic fucking war.

In the aftermath, only a very tiny minority denied their existence....although more questioned some things like the numbers of victims,
