this was a good day for america....after seemingly countless bad ones.
Patrick J. Fitzgerald is going to have some explaining to do after all is said and done. Why he even pursued an investigation when no crimes were committed in the first place should be the question you ask yourself.
Like the jury in the Libby perjury case, they were asking themselves "why are we prosecuting this man?" !!!

Watch for changes in the license these "special prosecutors" get.
A more apt term would be "special inquisitor"!

OK, now that the verdict has been announced and justice has surprisingly prevailed.
How much jail time do you think he will actually do?

I'll take a guestimate at 2 years or 2.5 years.

I hope that the attorney fees and legal costs bankrupt him, though.

(Worth noting is that Libby was the 'anonymous White House source' that fed Judith Miller the false story about Atta meeting Iraqi intelligence officials, that ended up on the front page of the The New York Times two times.

    Both stories 100% false.)

That should at least rule out a presidential pardon.

I think sentencing is scheduled to take place by May.

    So, here's one scenario.

But has 22 months left before leaving office in January of 2009.

Bush could give a pardon on the last day or two before leaving office. (Clinton did this with Marc Rich, and others.)

Regardless of how much time served or completed by this time, Libby conviction would be erased.

and let's not forget what this case was all about.....

the white house attempted to destroy the career of a CIA operative because her husband wrote an op-ed piece for the NYT that shed light on its manipulation of intelligence. the intent of the white house was clear...anyone who questioned how the white house was using intelligence would be destroyed.

and libby's taped grand jury testimony reveals that cheney was directly involved, and therefore he should resign.

    Why?
Bush should/will grant that pardon at anytime he wants.
Ford granted Nixon an immediate pardon, why shouldn't Dubya grant Libby one this very minute since he didn't do anything wrong, eh?

apparently the jury felt sorry for the accused as they all understood that he was the fall guy

I'm making the assumption that a pardon would leave him with a terrible mark in the history books.

    So he won't.

If he did - which he won't - it would be in the last day office in Jan. of 2009.

why don't you re-read the last 14 pages of this thread......he blabbed about her to reporters.

in a case involving national security he obstructed justice, lied to the grand jury, and lied to the FBI...and now he's going to jail.

The Clintons also stole a shit load of antique furniture from the White House when they left office. Scum bags...

I watched Hilary Clinton's speach at Selma, Alabama yesterday. She is a terrible, squaking orator. She looks like the face of evil and war, I think she would relish an "its war"speach. She reminded me of Thatcher but with a more plastic, false facade.
They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve

That's not why he was convicted by a jury on multiple counts.

    Agree, Mad_Dog,

    Hillary is conniving.

It's a lessor of two evils, unfortunately.
