It's the old dogs desire to spend some 6 months a year in LOS sunning his scrawny arse on the a Condo balcony preferably cooled by sea breezes courtesy of Mr Crudd.

Phuket seems bloody expensive with crap Condo/Apartments around 15k plus for long term and it seems bloody hot temp wise and in a spiral of downgrading of property values.
God shades of Dubai

So what's the situation like on the outskirts of Sin City/Jontiem etc for something with a bit of living space in a reasonable area.

Even more to the point where would you prefer to reside in Thai if you had the choice and the means.

Bang Chang on the Eastern Seaboard about 25 minutes drive South of Pattaya may suit your needs Dog.

As shown on a couple of threads here there are some nice beaches in that area, has a shopping centre, great golf courses as well as a street full of bars.

In fact a number of Teakdoor members live in the area and I have only heard good reports.

There is also some good cheap accommodation in the area and good luck.

I'm in Ban Chang as Loy Toy mentions above and Ban Chang is rather peaceful and affordable. Waters at the local beaches are fine to swim in and there are several available with some of the nicer beaches between Ban Chang and Sattahip on the Samersan peninsula on Thai Navy/Marine facility grounds. Phala and Payon (spelling) beaches in Ban Chang are fairly nice as well with lots of good sea food restaurants. Rents are affordable, traffic limited, plenty of good eating establishments, Patters 35-40 min away, Rayong City 35 min away, plenty of real nice golf courses, and a somewhat friendly expat community if one is so inclined. Of course, this country and slower paced living is not for everyone. For the simple life style retired guy it foots the bill.

Anyway - as to your request, this place is so diverse you need to be more specific, what do you want to do with your time, near to bars downtown, or quiet area?
Your own transport or public?
There is a huge choice out there, getting it right not so easy.....

Anyway - as to your request, this place is so diverse you need to be more specific, what do you want to do with your time, near to bars downtown, or quiet area?
Your own transport or public?

Anyway your right the choice is huge and that's why I am asking even tho I have been in LOS quite a number of times but shit you can't go everywhere.

So parameters are.

Living for 6 months at a rate of 75 to 90 BHT with 2x1 Apartment/Condo (17 to 20 BHT) on the coast.
Quiet area with access to amenities which is as temp/cool as LOS gets.
Not interested in madhouses and local fucking traffic chaos.
Own local transport.

Really a question for Expats in the sense that if you could spend 6 months in LOS comfortably and leave and travel as you please without any strings where would it BE.
I know that most of you are locked into your lifestyle plus have inhereted a Missus/Family/In Laws and a Buffalo prone to every disease known to bovines or a Bar but the old dog is a bit to cagey and always sniffs the shit before he eats it.

LOS can't be Pat and Phu and is sure as shit is not Chang Mai.

Any ideas, however mad are welcome.

The Demon barber had a lot of time for you Kelp, so will give you a few ideas.
I have lived in LOS well over 20 years, the last 14 or so in Pattaya, but being oilfield I only spend half my time here, it works out ok, Pattaya is easily accesible, more so now that the roads are finished, just about everything is available now, including quite a few things that are not available elsewhere.
Within your budget you would have a good choice, I would guess that an apartment out towards Ambassador city would suite you?
If you haven't been hear from a while, you need to take a look, its changed - drastically, many things not for the better.
If there is a better place to stay overall than Pattaya I don't know of it, its got its faults but other places have a lot more.......................
