Yeah, always nice to come home and see the mutts greet me at the gate and go crazy and of course sleep in your bed.

As for driving, I have logged a lot of miles around Thailand in and out of Bangkok and sure I have seen some accidents, both vehicles and scooters but it's not the chaos as some believe it is. I honestly witnessed more daily accidents commuting in California. The big difference here is fatalities from scooter accidents with riders not wearing proper safety gear.

Cheers MM. I have to admit this trip, while business related, was rather quite enjoyable and fun to kick around BKK with my wife and go to places we did when we met for fun.

Glad to be home though. Easy, no traffic, no noise, great food etc.

The Thais call that building "ตึกปลวก" - the termite building.

I certainly understand that feeling. I don't think I could live in BKK at this point in my life. I had a few opportunities to get a job there, but never went for it. I lived in enough huge, croweded, noisy and polluted cities to not want to live in one again. I much prefer the quiet with nature, with less people and traffic around as a place to live.

Interesting, thanks. Is it a business building or something else?

Yeah. I have lived my life in the country and big metro cities. While they both served me well, I couldn't make a big city or tourist area home. I grew up as a kid on a farm and love country living. It's quiet, lots of green, nature all around, neighbors are usually always quite nice and always helpful. Of course its not for everyone. I enjoy visiting BKK, but am quite happy to return home.

^Thank you, Shy Guava. A number of years ago, I was at a hotel near MBK and there was a rooftop pool. I could see King Power in the distance and always wondered what it was... I never really looked it up. Well now I know.

Well the air quality is absolute shit right now and its always even more enjoyable with the temp at 39c. PM 2.5 today was 138. I should have lung cancer by the end of next week. Anyway I plan on starting a pool bar cover extension project today with my wifes Uncle and his friend. The crap air quality will make it ugly fun. I decided to extend the pool bar cover as I want to cover a bit of the shallow end of the pool as we have family that drops by and they have little children that love to swim but they are exposed to the sun, these are little ones, 2 and 3 years old. Bright sun isn't such a good thing for them. Also my wife would like to swim more but she like most Thai women, does not like the hot sun. Also by extending the cover I can also sit out in the pool area during rainy season and watch it pour which I quite find relaxing.

Pics to follow. I am picking up the materials later today.

Uncle and AIS arrive on time. AIS will re route the fiber line at the pool bar area and upgrade to a new router. I also have to relocate the CCTV camera.

The pool bar stool is a rough marker of how far I will extend the pool bar cover area. I decided to avoid deck removal complications to follow the same lines of current pool cover in width and height.

Brutal day. 39c, Air quality sucked ass but we made good progress on the extension.

I started tearing off the front. I took a lot of breaks to hydrate and get out of the sun. Ung and Bao worked on the pole supports and deck removal

    Almost cleared.

Lunch break. I had a 6 pack of Corona's in the fridge and today they sounded good. A "Parched March" indeed

Ung got the deck removed and holes dug for the pole supports. Tomorrow he will cut, weld on ears to support and cement in place. Bao made good progress on cutting metal and prepping to put the extension on tomorrow.

Day 1, ends. Man it was Fn hot. After all done I had to do a quick pool vacuum to get the debris out of the pool. if anything metal it will rust extremely fast and stain the pool bottom.

Parched march indeed. I wonder how much the shade will reduce the temperature of the water. Obviously you’ve started now but perhaps a shade clothe structure or awning might have been better?

Actually DW the pool temp will pretty much remain the same. The water flow from the filter pumps runs from the covered end out to the sun. 60% or so still sees sun all day. I don't expect much change. As for a shade type cloth, the issue with those are the rogue storms that blow through here. I see those tarp like deals blowing all over. I did consider it, but wanted something more robust.

That is the good thing about my pool in vientiane. It was shaded in the afternoon at the peak time we all used it so nobody had to get sunburnt

Looking good Stump and nothing better than an ice cold Corona with some lime, what do you think of Sol as a comparison?

Wicked pool BLD, love the wall! Did/ do you have a hoop anywhere on that wall?

That pool build thread was a good un for sure BLD. The "good old days".

Who remembers when the construction threads were the most visited and commented on? Very few indeed, but all things must change.

I found TD because of the construction threads as I was looking for ideas on a back yard cover. Then I joined as I saw numerous members building homes all over Thailand. I never really did much posting in other parts of the site until few years ago.

Nowadays builds are far and few between. Been a couple nice ones recently. I still believe quite a few are moving here and building places however TD just doesn't have the forum activity like it used to and no real traffic to have it pop up for new members.
