    Thanks guys...

I find myself reminded of Winston Churchill tonight...

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter or TeakDoor member.
Welcome to 'Greyie', our proud new father!

^ Yeah well, I don't swing that way Mike.

Teakdoor is a broad church and all are welcome to this thread. Hopefully he will get the message.

And 'big unit' noted. Where did that come from?

We have gone with the cognomen 'Pepa' for the father pigeon. Pretty damn clever, dontchya think?

The boringly named 'Whitey' mother pigeon was on nest duty first thing this morning.

    The kids are doing well.

    Pinky and Perky?

Things are getting hectic at feeding time out back. The dog feeding guy seems to feed his black family every day and now that I've provided enough bowls we no longer get plastic bags scattering the area. His black family hang around for Tem's feeding time and it becomes a bit of a free for all. Anna comes to 'help' most evenings as I think the socialisation with other girl dogs is good for her.

It's as hot as hell in Korat right now and Maya and Lola have taken to playing in the pool in the evenings. They have a better life than I do and seem to keep themselves occupied.

They are getting on very well again, but Maya still gets the occasional flash of jealousy.

The game seems to go something like... they stare at each other for ages, and then Maya barks and goes for a swim around the pool while Lola chases her around the perimeter.

There's the daughter taking a picture. She should have really been in there, with Maya.

    And back again.

    Oh to be young!

I've never before known a dog shake itself dry while still standing in the water. Maybe Maya was just deliberately getting Lola wet?

One thing I hadn't bargained on... if the daughter was in my pictures... then I would be in the daughter's pictures!

And what a revelation it was.

Fuck me, I look like a fucking Teletubby.

    Yes Mike... 'big unit' indeed.

I don't know how this happened, but today it all changes.

I lost a truckload of weight last year, and then stopped exercising when Yogi nearly took off my right foot. I'm still out of the exercising habit and am sedentary for hours on end... but generally eat healthily in my opinion. Virtually no junk food, pizza, burgers and the like, lots of fresh fruit and veg, etc etc. But whatever I'm doing it obviously isn't working.

    Things are gonna change.

^ But luckily no problem in your mid 50s.

My dictionary says that now that the Roman Empire has ended, cognomen is also used as a nickname.

    Shutree will know.

@mendip - I approve of the names Greyie, Blackie & Whitey! (We had hens named Blackie & Brownie & a cat named Yellow Cat. )

Re: size, as BLD would say, you are (and he is) a big mammal. As for losing weight, maybe try intermittent fasting, portion control + exercise? Whatever works for you! Good luck!

Nickname itself is a corruption of an eke name or another name , they were commn at school and in families

Funny ones like Lanky , Chalky for some reason a local lad was know as Ethel etc

Thaois all seem to have them perhaps as shorter than their long legal ones and of course change at the whim of the moons the Naga the Green man , fortune tellers here and even darker spells in deepest Ease Son

Mendy I am prob of similar weight but a tad taller and was prob 5kg slimmer at your age so the writings on teh wall more exercie per Leo, you may be syffering from a recent Isaan outbreak of Pajama-passport fun run syndrome.

The solution is in your hands and splendid shots of yer hounds bathing, if you could organise a shower show it has streaming options, think of all those people inMalmo , Coventry and C mai who couldn'r resist clicking on wet dogging foam alone.

Welcome to the Large mammal club, the big beastie club mendy.. it's bollocks that you can't loose weight in your 60,s ( I know you are only 57) I kicked off the intermittent fasting diet inspired by a mate of mine who had lost heaps. It started with 54 hours of water drinking only. Now only eat small portions at midday small portions at 6.00 I still have a nightly award winner or 10 but in 2 months I've lost 13 kg 6.5 first month 6.5 second month. I think that's the way to go? They say it's not healthy or sustainable to loose it to fast. The 54 hour of only water thingo was tough but I've plenty of Willpower due to never having had to use any up until now. I plan to keep doing the same thing next month and see if another 6.5kg comes off? If not might need to change to a lower carb beer? BTW MM might not of been bullshitting ya,ll
Most people are Kunts.dont believe me? Next time you see a group of people. Shout out OI KUNT watch em all turn around.

That is hardcore Lao. I stopped eating breakfast about 7 years ago. I like the feeling of hunger. It stops being unpleasant once you get used to it and becomes something interesting. And your first meal tastes all the better for it. I have never tried a multi-day fast but I would like to try it one day. I watch the show 'Alone' and I always wonder what the participants actually feel like after days or sometimes weeks without any food.

That is a ripper result in such a short period.

Honestly I can easily get to lunchtime without feeling hungry before then the trick is to stay busy and don't even think about it. I've also cut out as much sugar as I can. No chocolate snacks just protein eggs etc. Not much meat.

I am actually the same now.

It is funny because I remember when I was a kid I would have a full breakfast and maybe a chocolate bar at morning break but I still remember the raging pangs of hunger that would wrack my body as the dinner bell drew nearer.

    ^ Same for me.

When I was a teenager I used to take at least six slices of corned beef or tongue sandwiches for lunch on a fishing trip, and scoffed the lot by 10am. I'd be on the doughnut and cream slice for lunch. I was as skinny as a rake back then. I doubt I eat six slices of bread in a week these days, yet here I am...

    I think so too!

And I don't need the 'award winners' either, a simple couple of low calorie Ya Dongs is enough for me these days.

Today I had a low fat yogurt with a banana and mango for breakfast, and nothing since. The lean chicken breasts for dinner are cooking as we speak (with broccoli... and peas!).

I think that losing weight will be easy, and 6kg a month will do me fine. Although I'd like to do my March 6kg in a few days because I have a passport trip coming up.

Once I finally put my mind to stopping smoking (22 years ago) it was easy... you don't have to do something, you simply have to stop doing something.

    How easy is that!

I'm just gonna stop eating so much and cut out most of the crap. And when I get time I'll soon be back to my 5km treadmill sessions, 5 days a week.

    Sorted!

    I feel lighter already!

Anyway, to try and steer this thread back on track as I don't want it to turn into another fitness thread... here was Anna tonight.

She was a little fatty a few months ago but by reducing the rice content in her meals she has gradually lost around 5kg over the last few months.

I can now pick her up with no twinges to my lower back! I have also noticed that now she's lighter, Anna has become a lot more active running around in garden activities. It's a no brainer, and see how I linked this all together!

(maybe I should introduce the same measures to the Kommandant, who has always put away industrial quantities of rice but no longer seems able to metabolise it ... yeah, I won't be picking up Das Fuhrer anytime soon, not without a back brace on).

I wanted to post one more thing, but had no idea where to put it.

The clocks 'Spring' forward tonight at 2am. This will put Thailand 6 hours in front of the UK, 5 hours in front of most of Europe.

    So change your clocks!

And... for those lucky enough... it's Mother's Day in the UK tomorrow, Sunday 30th March. I just found out and was lucky enough to get a bucket organised for delivery later today!

Intermittent fasting works in losing weight, as well as OMAD (one meal a day). I know people who have lost weight doing either of the two (IF or OMAD). The challenge for some is that it's not sustainable.

I think for MM, she does "stress eating". I don't fault her for it, since I do too, sometimes. I also have a friend who stress-eats; she can consume 1/2 gallon on ice cream in one sitting. (That friend has always been a "bigger girl".) I did intermittent fasting (16:8) for a time but wasn't able to sustain it. I constantly thought of food until 10 or 11 am, until it was time for the 8-hr eating window. What worked for me (eventually) was a light breakfast and smaller portions for lunch & dinner.

Good luck to everyone who is on a weight loss journey!

Re: Anna & the dogs, I'm glad that Anna is back to being a lean, mean, barking machine! She was quite chonky in previous months.
