Anyway, the daughter has Saturday morning school for the next few weeks on the run-up to her end of year exams, and she sent me an early morning photo today.

Mrs Mendip had made an uncharacteristic venture outside which worries me that the TV may be broken, but regardless, it was nice to see her spending a bit of time with my dogs. They love some human company and after being away for five weeks I worry that they may be a bit neglected.

All seems harmonious for the time being. It looks as though Anna's finally lost a bit of weight as well, so all good.

That area will be the main play area during the night while I'm away and I have a horrible feeling that the 'eventful' looking floor is due to scattered pieces of futon or sofa stuffing.

Lola hadn't seen her old family for nearly two months, but was eager to meet them this morning.

Tem (Lola's dad) appears to have added yet another girl to his harem, a lovely looking 'lab' kind of thing.



She was keen to make friends with Lola... who wasn't so sure.



I'm hoping that she isn't a permanent addition to PJG's little pack... an undoubtedly un-neutered girl will inevitably cost me in one way or another. She has a lovely temperament and allowed to me to pet her, no problem. Hopefully she does have a proper home, somewhere.



She obviously knows a soft touch when she sees one... and followed us all the way back. Pretty much every time you leave the house round this way you come across yet another stray hoping for a home. You can't rescue them all, sadly.



And speaking of which, Anna is still my success story and now appears completely at home with the pack. Sometimes when I get home after a period away it provokes fights as the dogs vie for my attention, but not so this time.



Anna now seems to accept her place in the pack.



With so much canine activity around, I took our dogs for individual walks today so easier to control should there be any issues.

Yogi can sniff out an un-attached female from 100 yards... much like his owner back in the day.



Yes, Moodeng was enjoying a frolic in PJG's back garden and wasted no time in coming over to say hello. She's looking great and although her rear port-side leg is obviously weak, she has a perfectly normal life which has made the whole episode worthwhile.



Tem is very protective of his extended harem and soon came over to assert himself, resulting in a Mexican stand-off. Tem's a lot bigger than Yogi who seemed happy for me to gradually back him away. Problem averted.

PJG appears to be sleeping in these days, which means that her dogs are still out and about during my morning dog walks that start around 06:45. This can get a bit awkward at times because they patrol the end of our lane.

The girls are generally no problem and can still be walked together.



Lola acts as intermediary between her old and new families.



I have to take our boys individually because Tem (Lola's dad) sometimes appears to be on the verge of attacking, out of jealousy. I can control one dog and pick it up if necessary.

And this is why Tem gets so jealous... Yogi working his magic on Kamkoon, Lola's sister. He'd love to make her another notch on his water bowl.
