    Question Hello Ex-Pats !

As a lifelong dreamer and resident of places like New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas and Yosemite Nat'l Park it seems quite natural to set my gaze on the Land of Smiles. My brother has been there 4 times and loves each visit, and my friend from Yosemite has spent each of the last 24 winters in Phuket.
My first question: How will the new (oct 06), visa rule affect the long term ex-pat ?
Many more questions later, but for now I'm just enjoying this remarkable site.

It won't as long as you get the correct visa in your country of residence

    Welcome Bluechild.

The best thing to do visa wise it get a non immigrant multi entry visa in your own country before you leave. With this you will stay for 15 months but every 90 days you have to border hop.
If you're older than 50 a retirement visa can be gotten easily enough. Seek out your local Thai consulate and call them for further details.

Hi Bluechild, I really enjoy the Merced, Ca area, of course, different from Las Vegas!
