    Hi from Phuket

I finally got round to joining TeakDoor!

I' ve been living in Phuket since 2002. Stupid nickname but that was my age when I moved to Thailand. Some members may recognise my nick from other Thai forums.

My background is software/radiocomms. I married a Thai lady in 2004 and we built the hotel at Phuket Airport. Had a gorgeous baby son (now 3) and adopted her daughter (now 9). Wife went mad so now divorced and just about to build a Thai wooden house using old Mai Daeng wood in north Phuket.

Work as a Tourist Police volunteer (aaaahhh!) in Phuket and as a volunteer paramedic.

Studied for an MA in Thai Studies at Chula. Speak, read and write Thai ok, plus Lao.

Good to join this forum and hope to make new friends here

    Simon

Greetings Simon43 and welcome to Teakdoor. Building threads go down well over here so if you are handy with a camera, and you feel like sharing, you can post your pleasure/pain. Failing that, pretty much anything goes.

Hi Loombucket, yes I will photograph this project as it progresses. Still early days as I'm negotiating re the land. But things look good and I'm keen to start building!

LoyToy, the adopted daughter lives with her grandma and my natural son is currently with a good aunt/uncle in BKK. Very difficult circumstances and this sorry saga was detailed on TV forum a year or so ago.

I can understand you driving your wife looney....after all 'tourist police' ??

Why does your natural son not live with you ??

I would have to be dead, buried and cremated a dozen times before my kids would be living with a thai relative.

Hi Simon and welcome. We have a home in Phuket too. We're now in Dubai and I really miss the hot weather in December and January.

He mentioned she 'went mad'..... in most cases that gives free licence to dig a little.

Don't think he would be to bothered by it, otherwise why mention it in that text.

If he is upset by it, I will apologise and put the straight jacket I bought them for xmas back in the box.

Hi Bkkmadness, well not fed up - just giving me more reading material

No probs probing about my ex-wife. Still not sure why I deserved such bad luck to get stuck with her

So tell us all the final outcome.

It may help some of us out here identify a crazy woman...sitting, waiting, stewing, scheming...before it is to late.

    Hi Britmaveric

Well, the hotel is still there - and still going very strong (full tonight as usual), when I am present (which is most of the time because I don't yet have another job to go to!). I look after the business and money and share the profit 50/50. But the business is up for sale because my ex recognises that I will not always be around and that she cannot manage the business herself.

But I do not like living at the hotel because mad ex will not let me have a private life of my own, (out with the scissors if I rent a 'wife' for the night...)

So I'm looking to rent a little piece of land a few km away and build a small house for myself, with a very high wall to keep her out

Some days she is ok, other says she is on a planet several lightyears past Mars.... I got used to it and take it in my stride now.

Good to chat here - TV forum is getting full of moaners and whingers

    Simon
