    Hello

    Hello All,
    My wife and I are planning on retirement in Thailand. This is a number of years off however. In the interum we will be spending a few months every year in Thailand. Most likely in the Chaing Rai / Chaing Mai / mae hong son (north) region. I have been to Thailand a few times (short trips)and looking forward to more extended stays...

    Hello All, Thanks very much for the welcomes -- The wife and I have already sent one of your two sons off to University -- the other will be leaving next year. So we are in the hopes of heading out for Thailand for a month or so August next year. My wife has never been to Thailand but she is from China so I am sure it wont be to much of a stretch LOL....

    Thailand should be good in 2 or 3 years when the rest of the world has recovered from the financial crisis.

    Several reasons... I enoyed my stays in Thailand while doing business. During those trips I had the opertunity to take some time off and travel about a bit (but no where near enough).

    When I was living / studying in France my classmate was the son of the Thai ambasador to France. He was and still is one of my closest friends with whom I converse regularly about Thai affairs etc...

    Yup I should think so... I would expect Thailand to be in a 3+ year recession as the rest of the world... Hopefully things will stabilize well before then but I doubt it.

    Yes I am -- Unfortunatly Zaphod is taken on many many sites / forums so I took the liberty of scewing the spelling a bit hence "Zephod" but you guessed the jest of the name correctly LOL... you towel is hanging on the babblefish machine.
