Yes, but toadstools are very dangerous and deadly. One piece of them can disrupt your thought train and heartbeat and kill you.

    I prefer mushrooms, actually.

What about a dozen cold beers and a three course roast lunch?
...or a glass of Chiante with a slice of American Apple Pie (which is my new avatar by the way).

Now before we think that I'm into the militaristic right winged Jesus freak atmosphere...notice that I've changed my avatar from the delightful Christian "In God We Trust" founders of America (the last Great Empire)...to none other than apple pie.

Now apple pie is the sh*t, IMO. What could be more of an American Hero than apple pie? Apple pie knows no religion and knows no discrimination.

    Cool.
Hmm...anyone tell you that only Catholics eat the "body and blood" of Christ.
    Protestants don't.

Ahh, but therein lies the difference Sir Burr. I have done extensive studying on not only the Protestant faith, but other faiths as well around the world.

The Catholics believe that the actual body and blood of Jesus is present during their breaking and sharing.

The Lutherans believe only in its symbolism. Oftentimes too the Catholics will break bread from a large loaf and the priest and/or assistants will pass it around. Lutherans, on the other hand, typically order pre-made bread "saucers," where the bread is paper-like thin and one is given to each person. On each piece of bread can be seen a symbol of the faith.

Because I don't like being attacked and alienated over my confusion.. The red I sent was just a way to get my message returned, but why did you post it up in this forum? You've been here longer than I and I can see it doesn't belong here..

You sent me a red from this thread, I just reciprocated.. It was the easiest place to do it..

Hi, and welcome, Heros. I gave you a welcome green, but I find a few errors in your statements.

Potlatch is practised by many tribes, Kwakiutl, Haida and Salish to name a few. All west coast tribes in Can and US.
Yes, they gave away food, but there was no rice. The practice was banned by the government in the late 1800s. I think the missionaries made them do it -- thought it was un-christian.

Thanks, Propagator. You are a Great British Hero.

Spin, little man...I didn't include Hero with the e because the nickname register would only accept a certain number of characters, and I just decided to cut out the 'e.'

Yes, likely no rice. Maybe potatoes, but I know it was a lot of food.

Cool, another member raised Lutheran. Were you Missouri Synod or Evangelical Lutheran Churches of America.

We Lutherans believe that the cross should be shown without Jesus on it (unlike the Catholics with the Crucifix), to represent the joy of the already risen Christ.

Oh, by the way, I became a born-again Christian when I was 16 years old, and yes, I did put Jesus bumper stickers on my car at the time.
