Thread: My Introduction.

Just thought I'd introduce myself, as I've finally got around to joining the group. Well, I visited Thailand roughly 18 months ago, as I have a friend who is living and teaching in Bkk. I stayed for a month and really love the place. Makes a change not to be cold and wet, basically I was hot and wet with sweat instead! Well, its different.
The thing I remember most, was walking back to my apartment in the early hours, fairly happy, having drunk far more than normal and feeling relatively safe! I'm wise enough to know shit happens anywhere, but was impressed by the fact that I could not do that in my home town! The cost of living is a hell of a lot better than England and my money stretches further, giving a better standard of living.
Anyway, next year I'll be 50, so thought lets get on with it and live life while I can. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! So I've booked a TESOL course at Chichester College, to learn a bit about teaching English in Thailand. Looking forward to making a few friends on here and sharing a few bottles in the future.

Thanks Begbie. I think the annual increase in the cost of my cigarettes is the deciding factor. Basically, the amount I'll save on them, will pay for my apartment in Thailand! Crazy!

Yes, I do kinda remember the young ladies! At least I'm fairly sure they were, as I dont remember getting so drunk not to notice the difference!

Why not have a longer holiday first? Can you take a year off work?

Thanks all, for making me welcome. Yes, I'm coming initially for the course and then seeing how things work out. I've been around long enough, to realise things never go as expected and I think thats even more so in Thailand! I might well try to give up smoking, but probably only after I've been cremated!

Good advice Kingwilly. Basically, if I want to take life seriously, I could stay in England and be bloody miserable! No, far better to come to Thailand and enjoy the many pleasures of life. By that, I obviously mean the food, drink and scenic views.
