    The gamer is here...

My friend gave me the heads up on this site. Seems a lot better than some of the other message boards out there. Even has a waycool image gallery!

I'm from Florida, and into all things gaming, from the Xbox 360, to the Wii, and pen and paper RPG's like DnD and Warhammer. There's also other games I like, but those are the most prominent right now.

I also like beer, nookie, and LOUD music!

    warm welcomes.

just wondering how old you were.

my wife sort of errrm, made me give away to my 9 year old nephew because I am apparently too old to play with playstations and stuff.

i argued to no avail that 37 was really a gamers prime.

Indeed, brother. I won't quote my age, but I would say that my age is relatively close.

I think kids play good, because of fast reflexes. On that note, kids are good at games when that skill is used.

An experienced (ahem...older) gamer has years of gaming knowledge that solves problems with careful calculation, as opposed to just trying everything until they get it right.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Did you show her Grand Theft Auto, where you steal cars, run over people with them, and kill cops? What about the part where you pick up a street hooker, fuck her, and regain health from it?

Yeah, she's probably right. Your getting too old to play those games after all!

Aye, preaching to the converted on that one! Unfortunately like CMN my real World includes a wife. She hasn't made me ditch the PS2 but she's making the purchase of a PS3 a emotional issue!

I bought the expensive one myself - aaargh! 800 Gold down the drain, and I only made 650 on the adventure!

Between the TU cost, alchemist fire, and 2 potions, I came out negative 132 GP.

At least I didn't get possessed.

I'd wait on the PS3, and go with the 360. Wait a year more for the PS3 to get things straight - hopefully.

Besides, there's TONS of great 360 games out there.

Now if we could only trade in our wives, and GF's for Playstation 3's...

RPGs and Warhammer?!? (Young) people still play these?!?

Bought an almost-mint copy of Warhammer Quest last month to give my sons an introduction to RPGs. Still have most of my original D&D and Arduin manuals, signed by Gygax and Dave Arneson. Arneson was part of my local San Francisco/Berkeley gaming crowd back in the 70s.

But as this has nothing to do with Thailand, Teak, or Doors, I shall stop now and just say: Welcome!

Yeah, RPG's are still big. In fact, it's almost too big. Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast, which has the rights to DnD. Now there about to screw eveything up for the DnD crowd (IMHO).

Were playing DnD 3.5 in BKK. I haven't played Warhammer 40k in a while. Still have a small army and a few vehicles. Warhammer is pretty popular, expecially now that the baby-boomers are full grown geeks and have lots of cash to blow on expensive model armies.

"I'm so hi-so, look at my one million point army!"

    Welcome Gamer///

Sounds like your a candidate to start threads on Diablo II, Neverwinternights, World of Warcraft, Quake, DOOM and FEAR. Me I'll stick to Tiger Woods and EA Sports "YOUR IN THE GAME!"

    should i buy a Wii?

i was on a ship recently and saw adults jumping and waving their arms around like idiots playing Wii sports. It looks fun, but is it a better buy than an Xbox 360?

Well, El, I'm not so big on the games you mentioned, with the exception of Doom and F.E.A.R. I should get on board with WOW, but my time is limited, and if I get hooked...

Wii is great if you have friends (ahem...perhaps groups of women) over often. Kids also love the Wii too.

The 360 is the best for true gaming. Solo or online. The games are of many different varieties, as opposed to the Wii which are more family oriented. Most 360 games have difficulty levels that you can adjust to 'easy' if your not very good at them.

    Recap:

Wii: Lots of people and/or kids.
    360: All other gaming.

    Option two: Get both!

BTW, having a couple girls over playing the Wii is a blast. They get physically worked up playing the games. A lot better than them turning on Thai TV and watching away into zombie-ness!
