Land in the mountains or down by the river.

I'd love to as I really love northern thailand and the people (helps that they have the best looking birds in thailand). My SIL loves to stay at her own land and house in pak Chong when she gets chance (bkk girl) , so trying to get her north is an almost impossibility to look after things . I'm wondering if any of you guys have ever left land long term unattended ? I'm most likely not going to live in thailand full time for quite some time .
Just thought of another area not far from Bangkok. Prachinburi. The nothern part (nadi) is very nice. Driven though it many times.

I wouldn't have any problems buying a piece of land up here and leaving it for a while BUT, we've been here a while and we've got some good local friends.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you can make connections with local folk you're fine. I have to say that the folk in our village are as trustworthy as can be. We've never had any issues and they've always been keen to help out. Such relationships can take a bit of time though.
One issue that may be important to you is that the land for sale is not always chanute. In fact most land outside the immediate village is not. Due diligence is required. Or blind faith.....![]()
Do you really want to work really hard in your retirement or is this the wifey's dream?
Did years ago west of cha am but now in nakhon nowhere roiet. Not a mountian in sight.Originally Posted by Overherewa

Lol
I could understand the blind faith bit if it was on family
Land that they have lived on for generations . Honestly the vast majority of Thais that I know are super trustworthy as I tend to not hang out in the tourist areas . I'm quite happy in a reasonably sized Thai place .

I'm not even close to retirement , hence why I have to stay here and work
(And don't have a big budget lol) plus I'd like my son to eventually have property in the country of his mums birth . I want to get it now even if I have to sit on it for 10 years and gradually make improvements on it . I have the money in thailand from selling my old house and it's a pain to get back so may as well
Use it before inflation eats it up 😝
