Teak Door to rule the world!

I came to Teakdoor by accident. I had been grabbing info about Thailand at Thaivisa then slowly became fed up with the bunch of pompous small-minded wankers over there.

I was fortunate to find this site, and enjoy the vastly more open-minded, relaxed and humorous Teakdoor after the drudgery of TV. It (TD) deserves to be the premier site for all expat information and online conversation. But there is one area on Teakdoor that is central to being top dog, which doesn't work so well for me, and I suspect others struggle too. That is the Classifieds - a key area for many expats and a potential source of revenue for TD. The problem I find is that Teakdoor seems to lump everything together - dogs, cars, air conditioners, kettles etc. It would be so much more useful if there were some categories to enable easier searching (for example, such categories as: "Cars", "Furniture - indoor, outdoor", "Motorcycles & motorcycle parts", "Pets", "Free Sex" etc. )
Maybe there really are such categories, and I just can't figure out how to use them, in which case I hope some kind TD person will provide me with idiot level instructions. If there are not, may I humbly suggest that such an addition would be of great benefit to attracting casual browsers and new expats to TD. And that a system to extract payment for some ads would fund the small redesign task - and then subsequently generate consistent revenue. (Hopefully minimal, knowing that TD is not focused on being a commercial site).
Probably others could suggest minor alterations that may help in the quest for TD to rule the world. Or at least the Thai part of it. I am not really complaining! I love the site, just want to see it develop even more.

Agree - the classifieds section could be greatly improved and drive significant traffic here, not least if a property section was set up.

Maybe for expats with no real job and trying to eek out a pittance by hawking stuff. Maybe they all use Ebay or now the new LineShop.

There are tens of classified sites. Bahtsold, etc.. and for the clueless maybe even Craigslist.

TD couldn't rule the world, it would have to look after itself while we argued about how best to do it.

...and soon to be followed by the associated ads.

True, I don't want ads either! I was hoping that a free + small fee classifieds would not become a slippery slope of grasping commercialism with ads interrupting every thread. As has happened elsewhere.
And I agree that baht and sold and craigslist etc will probably remain the main sites for ads for many buyers / sellers. But check Classifieds on Teakdoor - despite the somewhat chaotic state, people do still use them. If they were a bit slicker, I suspect many more people would find this site. It is not that I want TD to become just a market place, more that I would like to see its community grow. It deserves a bigger membership / readership. That then feeds into other benefits - more information about such things as motorbike trips to Myanmar; better answers to questions about how to renew a visa for less money; a central source to turn to when you don't know where to buy lingerie for your favourite goat etc.

What more numties? More does not mean better! Sometimes less is more.
    Why does TD deserve?

Bike trips see Gt-Rider/ Ride Asia
Renew visa et all see TV.

But agreed this is the best place for goat lingerie.

I'll ask you again Jeff, as you never replied last time. Are you in regular contact with Marmite or not?

The alignment of your enquiry, is subterraneanly displayed, just as one would accept with neglect without anxiety.

    There I answered for him.
