I would have said to develop a thick skin, but since you're an Aussie, saw no need. We've got Yanks, Aussies, Brits, Irish, Belgian, German, and probably a few others here. Makes for some interesting banter. Even have a couple of long-time female posters. Most posters are Thailand-based, either full or part time, while a few of us have history in Thailand, but live elsewhere - Philippines (me), Cambodia, and China for starters. Lots of different life experiences represented.

    little intro??

bit the same here, i was born in Belfast 56 model lived in perth for 50yrs have decided to spend the epilog of my life in nth thai, had enough of the west and their nanny state, after a cambodia dirtbike ride i came to thailand rode mai hong son area, everyday we finnished flying around these fantastic mountain roads to our hotels .I decided to come back and give the hwy,s a burl & never looked back fell in love with the whole place. the people the cultureal experiance, maybe that will all change now we will wait and see. I was a skipper prawn trawlers, mechanical fitter,Rigger,Metal fabricator. motorcycles have alway,s been a passion in my life, dad was ISLE OF MAN, took me to see Sammy Miller ride when i was a kid, got severly bitten by the bug. now just a cruiser. an lovin it . that golden triangle mountain area has to be one of the best touring rides like isle of man on steroids. anyways we are here to build a home, so i will be asking lots of questions.we purchased 1800sqm on a flat ridge of a mountain range overlooking the mai kok river. first job is to get electric & water up and running, then build a 3bay garage so we can lock everything at night when building the house. i would like to keep you informed with pictures when know how???

    Indeed, Davis.
Presently, TD might offer the most extensive and unnoticed advice, info, odds and sods, etc pertaining to building and construction around.

    Welcome in, Ferratus!

G'Day mate. Welcome to the fast developing originally from Down Under forum.

I imagine Australia has turned into a right old nanny state now along with being one of the most expensive countries to live in and no wonder you blokes are looking for an alternate home.

I've been up here in LOS for over 25 years and have enjoyed most minutes of it.

    Good luck with the move.

    G'day Irish,

Only 50 years in Aus huh? So still a whining pom then I suppose.

Welcome to tD, but can I ask you to use the occasional paragraph? Your story's interesting but a block of text makes it hard to read.
