Am I nuts?

Hello all. Newbie first time just logged into this site. My first trip to Thailand was last winter. Went to Lao for 2 weeks and Thailand for 2 weeks. Loved it. Met a nice girl, plan to come back in December to spend time. She is single, has no kids or sibs, parents are deceased, speaks some English and writes very well whereas I speak basically no Thai, so we can converse anyway in English. She runs a daycare out of her home and is close to my age (mid-40's). I really like her and think she is a nice girl. Have already talked about her coming back with me to the US, but am well aware of all of the scams. She wants no money from me, says she would relocate, wants to work here. So tell me, am I nuts?

I presume you are just talking about her going to the USA for a holiday at first, of course? To see how you get on? If she likes it? If you are compatible?

Not knowing any thing about you, I do know that you seem a little naive, one thing I do know,you don't know all the scams.
I have been here for 20 yrs, and I don't know them all.
Anyway best of luck, some people make the Thai women to home country transition OK, but personally I wouldn't risk it just yet and Ive been married with kids for 13 yrs

You need to spend a long time in Thailand learning the ropes before you even start thinking about a LT relationship in Thailand let alone back home.

Yes. You're fucking deranged. My wife and I have been married for 12 years, but were together for ten years prior to getting married. What you're suggesting is about like walking up to a woman in a grocery store, going out for coffee, and then getting married and moving her from her comfort zone and only frame of cultural reference to an alien land on the other side of the globe. My mate's mother and father met in 1940. They knew each other for two days and were married under a special licence which was available in wartime. Their marriage ended in 1992 when he died.

The story of allied soldiers in far away places, in this case Thailand, has never been documented very well.

The Christian soldier holed up in a Buddhist culture demanded a marriage prior to consummation. If the soldier lasted a month or so before succumbing to nasty tropical diseases things would stabilise.

The option of adding "freight" to the return journey was always available. Many homeward bound transport vessels had more wives and children as freight than returning soldiers.

Fitting in when returning to Medicine Hat/Wigan was another thing.
