If you not sure about tenure here you are far better to rent until you are, I brought a new Calais in Aust, cost me about 40K, sold it 8 months later for 25k Ouch.
You will find small car rental places, many with only 2 /3 cars pickups who will rent on a monthly basis 4 drs for about 15K PM.
There is one around the corner for us, they rent near new Colorado's and Mitsui pickups.

My nearest city is Ubon so I guess there would be plenty of these places that you mentioned PP, it is just a matter of finding them, that's the problem.

15k in 8 months? Ouch is not the word!

That would be difficult due to the huge diffs on each axle.

A low 4wd pick-up would defeat the purpose as clearance is an important factor in a 4x4.

In that advert for the blue truck, he states 'no outstanding finance on the vehicle'

How do you find out if a vehicle is indebted or not and if you buy one unknowingly that is, who owes the money for it ??

think when you go to the land transport office you will find it is not registered in the name of the owner but of the finance company, well I think that is what Thetyim told me today

Maybe, but the vehicles that I have got through a finance company have all be registered in the wifes name, (being a Farang I'm not to be trusted to pay it off) but the finance company hold the book until it has been paid for.

Nice....now there is an idea...do finance companies hold repossesed vehicles ?

I thought they just handed them all over to yards to sell.

How do you go about finding repo vehicles ??

Seems we are/maybe suddenly in the same market as MM, might be buying a block near Khao Yai...another one...but this one we will want to do something with immediately, so need a vehicle to get around. 2 kids, so need back seats and somewhere to chuck junk into, so pickup it will have to be.

I like new, but detest the drive out the door immediate resale value. I did this many times in Oz with 4wd's and swore never to do it again.

There are many auctions for Repo's, two regular ones in Udon alone, expect this segment of the market to pick up.

I got the wife to call them, tried 3 numbers and no answer or not connected. 4 number we left a message. Unbelievable they called back an hour later. She told her I had sent an email asking for a quote, no worries I will go and check and get back to you she replied. That was 2 days ago.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

I know a fellow in Phuket who buys almost new Ford Rangers at the auction.
About 260k for an almost new low mile 2wd extra cab. They're basic but good value nonetheless.
People fall all over themselves over Toyota and Isuzu for no good reason that I can see.(overrated junk)

When I was a kid, we thought playing 'I Spy' was the ideal way to occupy travel time in the car. How the world has changed!

Yes it has...me to. But it is the future now.

Another question....I am currently looking at the 4 door vigo, might consider the 2 door prerunner also as probably will never use 4wd for real. Even most rough roads here you only need 2wd, rare to ever need 4wd.

But also looking at the Isuzu Dmax....anyone any experience between the 2 ??

Dmax was quoted today as 819k new. Vigo 810k.

    Party poopers.

I usually drive long distances when I do drive, so games like I spy intermingled with dvd's and other games would keep my 2 from killing each other, mum from killing them, me from killing mum for not killing them for real.

My mate is looking for me in CM....many around he said and seem to be 100k cheaper than Bkk. 480k for an 07 vigo, 485k for another one, 550k for a dmax 07 etc.

Nawty, feel free to flick me any of this info if you get a chance.

I have a question which I will ask here and if no answer will start another thread.

Does anyone know of any decent 2 door pick ups (the ones with the bench seat in the back - preferable as large as possible) that either have rear seat belts as standard or can be fitted as an extra?

I'm quite sure I could get rear seat belts fitted in my Hilux if I wished. Even though it's 13/14 years old.
