    Radar Detectors

With the latest 'crackdown' on speeding (at least on the highways), and the BiB actually having some radar kit I think it's time to get a radar detector.

So, are they legal, are they available, anyone got advice on the best model that will detect the local variety of speed trap?

I got caught in a couple just before Christmas heading down south. I was doing around 140 both times, but the Police waived me on both times. Seems they were only interested in cars and trucks.....

Any of them do the job.

They pick up anything with a frequency though - such as taxi radios.

Ain't hardly worth the price of a unit, I got a Radar speeding ticket for 135 KPH and it cost me 200 baht.

I had a top model Snooper radar detector in the UK when I had the M3.

    Complete waste of money.

I agree, only seen two or three BIB with radar in two years, went pass one at 120 and didn't get stopped or a ticket.

I hope that's not tempting fate!

Once on the #2 Korat bypass the BIB waved me out but I saw them too late so I could not stop in time and decided to continue to drive. Nothing happened.

you could always get a magnetron out of a microwave , create a filter corresponding to the radar frequency , put a relay and button in circuit so you can divert power from your coil to the magnetron - then burn the input mosfets on the police radar unit with raw power.

but only if you feel devious.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
