Hi, all - sorry if this is the wrong spot for this post , but this thread seems the most frequented, and thus with most in the know. I have a HD XL Custom 883 , and considering floating it to the "land of smiles" can anyone recommend a reputable shipper/broker and if anyone has done this before..what are the hurdles/ ball park cost?

    thanks all

or otherwise point me to the right forum

I shipped in a bike frame and engine and had a custom bike built and would recomend selling the bike and buying a another here in Thailand as the time money and head ache is not worth it.
If you really must have it here go to any of the large harley shops in Pattaya or Bangkok and they will give you a price to bring the bike in and get a green book.
For a 1997 buell they wanted any where from 250K to 350K with out the cost of shipping.

Had the scum excise tax guys turn up at the workshop today, had about 6 bikes in the shed and two with out papers. I wasn't there but they didn't take any bikes thanks to the mother inlaw. They left my place and hit a couple of other houses and got a cr 250 and a steed. Turns out the obitor gets a kick back from telling the tax guys where you live. Foking prick he's off the Xmas drinks list

Just picked up my third Honda NSR 150RR. Previous owner says he had it to 170 kph before he let off the throttle. It's only 11 years and in really nice shape but still doing a repaint that should be done in the next few days. The first ones I had would do 145 with no problems and they were both about 18 years old. Sold both for a profit and that was after owning them for a couple of years. Will post up picks when she's done.

Got an early Honda Sonic RS125..(the money from the sale paid for the previous owner's funeral) It felt to low & small so I jacked it up somewhat.
Its now got motor-cross bars sat on 'risers'...lengthened cables & brake line on the front, + a big 320mill disc. Then at the back its had 14mm added to the shocker, thats lifted the bike a good 4-6 inch. Swing-arm is now under-braced (purely for show). The wheels & tyres have been up-sized & up-graded, and it feels way better to ride now, sat up like on a trailie-bike,great view of the traffic, good for nipping in/out of traffic...totally transformed a Sonic for about £150

In high school back in the late '60's, I rode a little Honda 50 scooter to get to school and work and back. It was transportation. Later, I had a Honda 350 with dual carbs 1st year university. When that cought and fire and was destroyed as a result of fuel dripping down onto a hot manifold, I bought a Triumph Trophy 500cc. Road that thing for about 2 years and have a lot of stories to tell while riding and going places on that bike. Took it to Watkins Glen New York to spectate the auto races in 1971. Sold that in 1972 when entering the military. and now almost 40 years later am riding a 135 cc Yamaha Novo or something lke that for local rides.

Yeah Sea traveller..its funny how you start off with small bikes..progress to big ones then later on in life find yourself back on the 'little ones'..but quite happy & content.
(my previous bike was a Suzuki 1100 in the UK...now the 125 does all I need)
    Happy days eh.

little bikes, big bikes, little bikes,,, no difference. just need to have situational awareness and ride defensively and even then there is an accident ready to happen. I feel fortunate that I got off the bigger bike without an accident and now with the smaller bike, ride with not only an eye out for autos but for other motor cycles, car doors opening, pot holes, sand and gravel on the road, people stepping out into the street, and dick heads on motorcyles trying to rob you of your jewlery. It is a constant strugle to ride peacefully and get home in one piece. The motorcycles sure con convienient though.

Was thinking of picking up one of these for a bit of fun. Had one in my teen years at home and they sure are a blast. Got 2 bikes already (big and small) and just don't see when I'd get to ride it.

How much was the 11 yr old one, you see ones around between 12-30,000. Not that I've been looking or paying much attention.

I am not a fan of bike weeks anyway but they seem to be getting worse. My main complaint is there aren’t any bike events and half the night seem to be taken up by Miss Khon kaen bike week and a ride in by police with their lights and sirens going. Now I don’t mind looking and listening to women but it seem to drag on a bit and they never even got their tittys out.
To me the event seems to have got smaller. As well as there was no custom bike show which meant every time I looked out the car park there was some fuker sitting on my bike getting a picture. Ended up having to move the bike near a mates tent so I could tell them to get the fuk off.
Good points was the music, easy parking and close to the event, didn’t have to walk to far for a piss.
I think a few of the farang clubs need to get together and host a bike week for bikers with events such as slow drags, barrel racing,Burn out comp, Custom bike show, Even a sux the weenie for the girls. Also would be held in the cooler months and have camping with showers on site and run for the week end not just one night.
