Stopped of at a a quaint English village called Eyam today.

Surrounded by Rocky cliffs and trees it was like driving back in time.

    Roasted revolving sheep anyone?

Eyam was the alleged at the time source of the great plague that decimated England, but the selfless the villagers isolated and all perished a very ong time ago before color radio and mod scooters I recall, I'll check when home on wiki but a wild guess 1666ish a beastly number .

Update since home Wiki says 1665-6 so my ole school did a great job on dates moreso than assignations!

A wonderful area friendly folk , great ale dogs and pies, and if you happy to have 6 months cold and rain in retirement pretty nice area. The Staffordshre and Derbyshoire parts of the pennines seemed less crowded than more famous higher perches, tho langdale, and all of Yorkshire High country equally lovely with even more snow.

Thanks for high quality photos and fond memories of my weekend "playground" for many years, before I discovered brazen brown women, fiery red sauces and the louche lounge lizard life of LOS , which while more modern and sanitized still offers a level of space , wildness and freedom that appeals to even decrepit old duffers!

I have spent very little time in Derbyshire. It is very pleasant, still I'd say Great Langdale and Swaledale would be my choices.
