    3rd fastest car I've ever owned SLK 350 supercharged 3.5 V6

still prefer the SLK 55 V8 in black though.

Sold it, probably would never buy again (electronics being too fickle).

    ^ nice boat...

Test drove one once, terrible; then test drove a Porsche boxter, very good; then test drove an Audi TT, good; then test drove a Lotus Elize, unusual and fun; then test drove an M3, very good. All on the same day, but decided it was all a bit too gay for me... Oh yeah, the Merc was by far the worst to drive, had an average interior compared to the others and was by far the gayest.

I think the term micro-aggression is only valid if the recipient is non-white. It's an American thing.

I believe people buy Mercs because they are more expensive not because they are better. They are "arrival" cars.

It's bit like like handbags, with the ladies?

Mercs are good quality IMHO... over-engineered - precision.

wasn't that German taxi (diesel) proven to be the strongest engine in the world (most durable) with millions of kms on the clock..

Mercedes is a premium brand. They lost their rep in the 80s 90s when bean counters ran the place. Apart from that period, the older the better.
BMW are boring unless you buy used high spec.
Audi make the best AWD cars in the world. (Not that hairdresser gay pram NZD). Buy the latest you can afford while prices are suppressed due to VAG taints from Wolfsburg.
    Porsche are widowmakers.

BMW's have great engines... but their gearboxes are weak.

555 the 350 SLK was a sweet ride - 0-100 in 5.2 seconds! brutal quick.

my 328i shit its pants just on 100k - apparently the gearbox isn't German, it's outsourced to GM motors... (or so the mechanic told me).

    True,

Was tempted back in 2004 to buy an SL55 AMG for 15k back in the UK. Was only 3 years old but a friend owned one at the time and had countless, hard-to-find electrical issue with it. In between owning a couple of Ford ST200s I bought a second hand BMW Z3 M, which was a love or hate car as far as styling goes. Was fun to drive but the insurance was killing me so I got rid after the 1st year.

Had a 3 series Alpina back in 98 which always blew the gasket.

Funny, cos a couple of mates have the BWW GS motorbike and despite being built for adventure, they are having countless issues. Something to be said for Jap stuff a my Versys just kept steaming on! Hope the Africa Twin is half as reliable as my Kawasaki Versys was.

Once you have a white roller with a gorgeous brown showefur all such matters recede in the rear view mirror, fortunately my roller has very low running costs and fits into the matchbox with my toy trains and planes if mummy let's me play.

Always nice to hear odf quality I fear the ladies find the rabbit of gearbox thrust, speaker capacity, getting the all from the channels into the penalty area leaves em cold.

With ltd experience I never find a Thai lady who canb resist a seafood buffet...if I'm paying

The slowest car I've ever owned was a 1958 MB 180D(incredibely solid). An absolotutely delightful car to drive if you werent in a hurry. The other great car I had was an1983 MB 300 TD, a bit slow off the line but could cruiser along at 100mph efortlessly all day long, even at high altitudes .

The other MB I would'nt turn my nose up at is the venerable MB 240D, maybe the slowest car ever built. But it got you there reliably and with economy and adequate comfort.

Will do. Nov/Dec seems like a lifetime away.

Feels like being a kid again waiting for my California Star BMX at Christmas.

Bless me favver. He was right about 3-piece bicycle cranks and Honda motorbikes.
