Dr Earl, I have been thinking about a replacement car for too long. In the end, all I got was confusion.

I decided to put everythibg on hold - just complete all WIP eg house, health matters etc.

I do not need a replacemnt vehicle - this one is going just fiine.

My problem is that I have too much time to think. I see all the new cars & think - why not? I have a limited life span. A new vehicle will not make me happier. The 1st accident & I will be very unhappy.

I am not obsessed with cars so my decision is no for at least 1-2 years - then review.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. It has revealed a great deal of new info - expanded my hotizons.

Wait until next year & then purchase a new or near new bicycle.

Now, which type of bicycle? Maximum ride will be 20km!

Right and you ain't got a whole lot of parking space there so that little Honda City is going to fit in nicely compared to a big bulbous SUV thing. You would hate it very soon.

Bicycle-wise just get something that fits and ride some,(the leather saddle makes a big difference ime, I actually look forward to going for a ride just to sit on the Brooks!) obsess some, ride some more, keep obsessing some, breathe in, breathe out...

Also there's gotta be a nice little bicycle shop in Fang, I didn't find it but I saw plenty of local affluent Thai riding bikes sporting style.

I have bought an autoharp. Not cheap, but very nice. Most people have never heard of them so this is a clip from one of the best players in the world. They are easily transportable and even a crappy Ford Ranger could manage it.

I am playing mind games again!

I have narrowed the field down to 2 -

    a) Fortuner
    b) Isuzu

Both would be around 3l. diesel no idea why, features, pric for cash, resale value, other.

I do feel like waiting fpi teh new Fortuner UNLESS there are dramatic changes.

The driver will be female; mid 30s; has a Honda City at present. Car does 5000km/yr. She likes the manual transmission - knows no better. Can handle her father's pickup easily - Toyota, 3l, manual.

Neither one... stick with the City for a few more years.
Shit man you aren't driving much now...less when you move up to Fang. Clearly you haven't any need for a new bling SUV. Think about something else, jazz, Eric Clapton, Pamela Anderson's pussy!

Ahhh but it's more complicated that following a simple chart.

Things like the length of your femur to your fibula. Which aren't necessarily coinciding with pat frame sizing charts.

I found that a small frame suits me better. Though I size for a medium frame.

The main difference is the pedal crank length and your leg alignment to the pedal.

The slightly shorter pedal crank of the small frame means less extension and less stress on the knee.
My next bike will be a medium frame, but mind ya I've been working up to it.

Anyway I just wanted to point out how there maybe more considerations to play instead of following someones pat formula.

Luckily my bike suits me fine. I went for a 19" frame as anything smaller made me feel uncomfortable.

    Another change fo "heart".
    Isuzu SUV - 3l; diesel/auto/manual.
It seems that the Isuzu will go "forever".
Songtews - Isuzu has a major control of this sector.

It's an MU-X. Still not as good as the Fortuner. More a copy of the Pajero

Nothing wrong with Isuzu, in fact they're excellent machines.

But what do need and SUV for other than for something "new"?

You realize of course the moment you drive it off the dealers lot, it ain't new no more.

Sure you see gazillions of fancy tweeked and pimped SUV's and stupid looking 4dr pickups running down the road. Most of them are morons. Intelligent people see them as morons.

So now you have a paid off, which serves your needs perfectly 100% reliable Honda City, and you want to trade it for something that makes you looks like a moron!
    You're smarter than that amigo.
If you got money burning a hole in your pocket better to buy the nice house with the garden up the street from you.

Buying fancy pimped SUV's is for losers and you know it.

I can't see an earthly reason you'd "need" an SUV.

It appears that your issue is similar to most things in contemporary times eg we buy a house far more than that needed.
We seem to be living in a "more is better" society.
In a similar manner, the Honda City is enough for my requirements. Yet, I am looking at something more than I "need".
Of course, we could all donate surplus funds for the benefit of mankind - but how many of us do?

If that's what floats your boat fine.
I'm just speaking from experience of having it "all" and know it doesn't float your boat for long.

I once took factory delivery of brand new Porsche. It was fun, they served a nice lunch in the executive dinning room. But I doubt Toyota is going to pamper you much for buying their new SUV. They'll probably kick your ass for being a moron.
If want it really, "the feeling"; then go buy a new Porsche which actually rocks. And your neighbors wont know what hit them!

Earl, I am not debating - in fact, the opposite.ie when you don't have it, you want it badly. Once you have it, so what? Move on to the next "desirable" thing & on it goes.

I'm saying a fucking modern SUV isn't even desirable unless your debilitated, which you are.. You don't even have good place to park it!
You'd get more respect buying a little garden property and growing some asperigus which is a therapeutic vegetable and would likely prevent any further nasty stuff.
