Is it the bus to Korat?
Surprised its still got the boot lid on it you could take it off and turn it into a pickup and fit the extended family in there.
the american car looks like an early 1970s chrysler.
I'm going to go with a early 60's GM. Possibly a Buick.
[the rear tail lights and coachline look similar to the Holden HD - which was apparently designed from Buick 'language' of the time.]
could be on the wrong track here, but searching for a Buickish match.
1964 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Sport Sedan?

I was thinking its an 88, but the boot/trunk line was wrong

Birding, don't make it too easy - at least hide the badge!
So it's a Chevy wagon, tail lights say Impala. I'm guessing early 70's, could be late 60's.
Looks like the family truckster from the movie Vacation.
Don't know what year but I'm going with an Impala Station Wagon.
1965 and not an Impala. Impalas have 3 tail lights per side. More likely a Bel Air.
It's pretty cool whatever it is.
I didn't even know that there was such a thing as an Impala wagon.

Birding, where was that Chev wagon that you saw?
Ahhh ok, cheers.
From the pics (nice by the way) it looks in good nick so I was a little interested. They were probably asking stupid $ for it though I'd imagine
You can just about see one here? Although it maybe something different?
