I drove an Armstrong Siddely once - it had "pre-selected gears".
You'd select your next gear in a box like an automatic and when you wanted it you'd tap a button on the floor where the clutch should be.
Very confusing.
your obviously a nipper evil, these cars were available in my day even out in the colonies, a remember the Armstrong Siddely well enough, a bit of a toffs car and out of our price range, we were more Austin and Chevy people.
It was in the Bourke street carpark just up from Myers - the "Colonies" - Yes.
^^
the magnificent but poor selling austin 3 litre
^ dead right.
Saw this one yesterday; according to Wiki just 9992 were made 1969-71, sure I haven't seen one before.

This time.
ive always loved cars, its as simple as that.
the shapes and character of the things more than the mechanicals and the engineering.
A decided advantage if you are a fan of Brit cars, the almighty and beloved Range Rover notwithstanding!Originally Posted by taxexile
Was beaten to it, knew it was a austin by the doors, just like a kimberly with bigger arse and front.
Used to love this car when we where children.
Fold down tables in the seats(very posh).
Austin Cambridge.
A40 I think, but may be a later A50.
I don't think it's an Austin Cambridge. Too small and wrong shape.
This is the shape of Austin Cambridge I have seen.
Austin A105 at a guess...but not sure which version without looking
^ Ford Thames 300E. Or if you prefer a Ford Anglia van
