Anyone keep bang up to date with this stuff?
I need to get a car.
I want the cheapest available.
Payment over 5 years with lowest downpayment possible.
Anyone have some figures?

Don't have figures but I think the cheapest at the moment apart from that Indian one is the Nissan March and that really small Honda.
Do you reckon you can get a deal where payments are less than 10k per month over 5 years (little or no deposit/down payment)?
^ probably for a Thai. Foreigners need to put 30% down, as far as I'm aware.
Protons are cheap and offer good finance deals (there is a reason for that...).
Think Thais can put down as low as 5%. Finance up to 7 years.
Is this car for you or your ...... ?
I pay 10,700 a month for my Mazda 2 which was 690,000bt over 5 years. Mazda had a special promotion at the time where you only had to put down a flat 40,000bt down payment. I put it in the wifes name.Originally Posted by Albert Shagnastier
Edit: Just done the maths and that doesn't add up. 10,700 over 5 years + 40K= 682,000bt. Surely they'd want some interest on that?
Nice one mate, that was exactly the equation I was looking for.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince
Probably 0% as they finance it themselves and have factored it in already (interest) no point having stock around.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince
Nice one.
Are they still as shit as they used to be though - thats the point I heard of people years ago that couldn't get spare parts for them even a few years after they bout it new.Originally Posted by Bettyboo

I can drive lorries mate - and fly helicopters too , is the cheapest pickup cheaper than the cheapest car now?, I thought that wasn't the case but could be wrong. if i can get a pickup cheaper than a car (have to be double cab) that would be fine - even better actually.
No. But they are not as well built as the Jap stuff, and you lose out on resale too. There's a Fiesta 1.4 manual which is a very nice car and a good price - 549k.Originally Posted by Albert Shagnastier

The march is nowhere near as good, but cheaper - from 380k.
?????? ????? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??????? ???? ????????
The Honda Brio starts at 400k.
The Suzuki Swift is a great little car, but from about 470k.
Maybe, as FP says, the March is a low cost and still a decent little car.
Proton Savvy is 400k which seems expensive considering it's shite...
Pop down to the dealers and start asking the questions...
Cycling should be banned!!!

The mother in law just bought a March. I took it for a spin the other day. Not a bad car, not as comfortable as mine but not bad.
I also had my friends Honda Jazz the other day when he was too drunk to drive home. Also not bad. It felt a bit quicker than the Mazda 2 but again the driving position was uncomfortable. The Aircon was like a refrigerator.
I couldn't buy a Fiesta unless it involved either the words RS Turbo or CosworthOriginally Posted by Bettyboo
You've obviously tried most of them mate - if you make an unbiased call (disregarding the fact you have the 2 already) what would you reccomend as the 1,2,3 order (all round qualities) sub 600kOriginally Posted by The Fresh Prince
1) Honda City.
2) Ford Fiesta.
3) Mazda 2.
the new Suzuki Swift with the 1.2 and manual can be had for the same price as a similar March now. I am thinking of gettiing one. 450,000 gets you a real nice one 490,000 gets you an even nicer one. But I do believe they are manual.
Nice job on your financing FP.
I could be wrong, but Ford are the only company here that I have seen who offer 0% finance, but it's always on outgoing models and up to 4 years.
Only the Ford Escape has that option at the moment, so not that cheap.
Sorry, I can't quote past posts from my phone. But this has had me thinking all day so I checked my policy.
For the Mazda I had it over 6 years repayment (not 5) at 1.99% interest. Still not bad.
For your top 3 question I would still put Mazda at number 1. Even though Ford is basically the same car I too would feel strange buying one that isn't a sports model. I really like the low driving position and the engine is good. I'm sure they must have a sub 600k model. The only thing you would be dropping is the extras. I think they all have the same 1.5 engine.
^ Cool, - got it. Cheers.
What about this new Nissan Cube?
It looks like it makes sense space wise, anybody know price or had a spin of one?
Good thread, and I apologise in advance for a small threadfuk here....... I'm looking not for a car but for anything that'll allow me drive in "sit-up-and-beg" position (result of a double discectomy). I'm not going to afford a new Land Rover so some kind of van/truck/small mini-bus would suit...... I know Suzuki do some pretty nifty small vans now...... anyone any info/links I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Something like this ?
If so check out this thread:

^ Yes, thank you.
Look at the Suzuki Carry. 1000 times better than the chinky crap and only about 360k.
Marmite has a good point. Jap cars have decades more design development and experience in what works, plus crash testing. Chinky cars lack that.
Try and get something not too small.....size does matter in crashes.
And cars do get stolen here. Of course you will have insurance, but a good quality steering lock may save you the hassle of an insurance claim.

Suzuki APV looks a bit tidier, dunno the price difference.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
