The numbers took me about fifteen minutes, watching the lottery programme on TV.

That gives you 0-10 and anything higher follows on from that.

The disadvantage of learning in the bar is,you leave pissed get home fall into a drunken coma.Wake up 12 hours later forgetting everything that happened yesterday.
Hence you need more lessons, seems a good way to learn to me.

    But a long learning process.

God forbid you should ever take on learning the thai script, that would prolly be paramount to a liver transplant

    What, a liver transplant?

I always thought it was bit of a bugger and sometimes involved a trip to Turkey or India.

    You're one tough cookie, Tax.

Plus when they say 'roi yee sip' to each other, you'll think it correlates to the 250b they then write down on the bill.

And you learn the rough farm-girl/bar-girl Thai and look a right prat when you start speaking it to normal Thais. Who know in an instant where you learnt it...

I used to think the same.
But I have experienced how most thai females including farmgirls/bargirls take a pride in teaching correct and polite thai to foreigners.
On more than one occasion in bars, I have recieved comments on my language and was told: That is not a polite way of saying it.

"But, but you use that expression yourself"?
"That is different, I am thai"

    Well, fair enough.
