    Chinese Weight Loss Coffee WARNING

American friend of mine here in Udon Thani called me today after noticing an empty coffee can at our hiouse the other day.I was not aware of the contents but he tells me that it is a supposed weight loss coffee that his wife has been using and has lost 9 kilos by drinking.
Needing to lose a few kilos himself he tried it and has suffered badly with head aches and urinary difficulties. The cans labelling is totally in Chinese so he had to do some research to check out the ingredients.
His research came up with news that the coffee is totally chemically produced and is being investigated by the appropriate Thai authorities and will almost certainly be removed from sale.
Fortunately my wife only took it for a week and feeling unwell stopped using it.
So it might be wise to check with your Thai wife/partner to see if she has been sold any of this obviously toxin affected coffee.

I used the "Rancid Pork / Tuna Diet" and lost 8kgs in a week!

Seriously though, there are a lot of these get-slim-quick products that appeal to the Thai psyche that are wholly dangerous.

People have the tendency to embrace the latest quick weight loss fad.
They hope to lose weight easily, though there is no such proven method,
and some, possibly like the Chinese coffee, may result loss of health or even death.

Other than taking the drastic step of liposuction, the only proven methods of weight loss include less calorie intake, dietary changes and exercise are usually quickly given up. They take too much effort and work!

I had the Mrs ask me for 900 baht to become an Amway rep yesterday.

Then I remembered the Amway thread on here and told her it was a rip off
    https://teakdoor.com/living-in-thaila...y-calling.html (Amway Calling:)

But seeing the amount of Thais who are so gullible, I might just give it her

Aussie Tigger , PM me your wifes details and your American mates, you too Crippen.

Luckily, we have it the other way round.

Sometimes the Midget buys the Fitnee Herbal tea bags. They're pretty good and make you have a good shit in the morning without fail. Failing that, a few bottles of Leo does the same thing.

For example, the bosses' secretary starts selling weight loss coffee or some such nonsense. You get the picture.

Just pen a scientific article explaining that ingesting semen accelerates weight loss - host it on a web page with a Thai translation - send the link to a few Thai women

and voila - sit back drinking beer while getting your knob sucked

^Regrettably there's some truth in what you are saying.

What gets me is all these people who get all paranoid about taking pharms and vaccines etc; who then will happily consume these 'health shop' remedies, without a second thought. Presumably as nobodies in jail yet; the active ingredients not meth.

    Be careful what you buy

    This from 2006

Russia declares an emergency as deaths from fake vodka soar

Anton Chekhov once described vodka as a colourless drink that "paints your nose red and blackens your reputation". What the Russian playwright did not say was that if you are not careful it can also turn you yellow, give you toxic hepatitis, and leave you nursing a hangover from which you will never recover.

After two months of rising alcohol deaths, Russia has declared a state of emergency in several regions where hospitals are struggling to cope with a wave of alcohol poisonings.
The radio station Ekho Moskvy says the casualty figures look more like those from a small war. More than 1,000 people have been treated in hospital in the past two months and at least 50 people have died from drinking batches of vodka or hard liquor that have been adulterated with toxic substances.
Russian television has broadcast Dickensian images of yellowing men and women in hospital wards and of desperate rural workers swigging what they believe to be vodka.
The crisis has been triggered by counterfeit vodka, which sells for as little as 70 roubles (£1.40) a bottle. Clearly not interested in getting repeat customers, unscrupulous businesmeny are adulterating it with ingredients that belong in a garage rather than a bar.

A recent police raid on a warehouse in the town of Voronezh intercepted a batch of liquor that was about to be passed off as vodka. Its ingredients included brake fluid, anti-corrosion solution and cheap eau de cologne. In other cases vodka has been found to contain window-cleaning fluid, lighter fluid, de-icer, antiseptics, and cheap aftershave.
Several criminal investigations have been opened and politicians from President Vladimir Putin through to MPs have urged urgent action. The Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, said in a letter to the Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov that 42,000 Russians died of alcohol poisoning each year.
"Just in the first half of the current year, about 18,000 people died of alcohol poisoning, and the situation in the territories of Perm and the regions of Amur, Belgorod, Volgograd, Irkutsk and Pskov is particularly alarming," senators said in the letter.

The poisonings are taking their toll on Russia's demographics; the 144-million strong country is "losing" around 700,000 people each year and male life expectancy is just 59 years, more than a decade lower than women's.
Police believe a handful of gangs are behind the trade but the authorities also have themselves to blame. A bureaucratic bungle has seen supplies of genuine vodka severely reduced since July, a situation that has forced prices up, leaving some drinkers with little choice but to buy the cheap stuff.

A group of businessmen in the countryside recently started up a special labour exchange for non-drinking workers to encourage rural dwellers not to drink. The response so far has been disappointing though: only 126 men signed up.

you do not lose weight from drinking coffee, tea or anything

you lose weight by eating less calories than you use

a lot of the coffee/ tea things can help you by suppressing your appetite, others by being diuretic, which can be dangerous

you lose a lot of weight by going for a run in the sun, several kilos sometimes, but your body will need to put all that water back

so, just eat sensibly, try to cut out fats and sugars, eat lots of fruit and veggies
    I have reported your post

The problem with dieting is that, if you choose to loose weight by radically changing your diet. Once you have reached your goal you stop and go back to the diet that made you over weight in the first place. And you end up with your weight yo-yoing; each time you yo-yo the percentage of fat in your body increases.

Unless you are morbidly obese, there is little point in attempting to loose weight until you have managed to alter your diet to one that you can live with for ever and one that keeps you weight stable or causes a very small weight loss.

Once you have achieved a static weight you can start considering weight less techniques. exercise is good, as it allows you to maintain you new 'lift style' diet and it improves your general health.

30 minutes of vigorus exercise will low out the carb reserves in your body and cause you body to derive energy by preferentially burning fat for about 16-20 hours after woods; causing you to loose more wight than the execersie its self. If you are unfit 30 minutes of walking as fast as you can comfortably is enough.

Its boring, slow and can be hard work; but it does work well.

green tea "supposedly" increases your metabolism and reduces your appetite so theoretically it is reducing your calories indirectly.

Diets dont work, sensible eating at the right time of the day alone though will help you lose weight.
The old saying eat like a King for breakfast,a Prince for lunch and a Pauper for dinner, actually works.

If you can drink ice water and plenty of it this will encourage your body to burn up calories while combating the ice water as well as assist in detoxing your body.

Four fish meals a week, lots of veg and or salad, fruit, but not after a meal and regular exercise and you will lose weight.

I forgot to add cut out the beer and soft drinks, but allow yourself one day a week where you can indulge yourself with things you may crave.

As the previous posters have commented make healthy eating a permanent habit, diets are short term fads and do not achieve long term success.
