Health insurance for the over 65's?

As I'm retiring to Thailand this year I've been trying to find a health fund that will insure the over 65's but to no avail. Anyone know of one?

would your wife perchance be a rep for said company?...

if it's a legit business why not just post the details so everyone can benefit...

Yea, KM, sounds like a good idea,, maybe someone else interested too.

If I knew of any I would tell, but I don't as they would not sell me any when I was over 65 so still do not have any.

    Hi Dennis,

To be honest I don't have particular ideas on the health insurance policies in Thailand. I have join a Florida based insurance firm recently. I would rather talk to my colleagues instead and would get back to you if they have any ideas.

    Thanks,
    Corwin.

I could not find much, but if you are still 65, Bupa will insure you until 70. Their exact phrasing from the brochure:

Members may join before the age of 66 years.
Renewal is guarenteed up to and including 70 years. However, if you join before the age of 61 years and are continuously insured, renewal is guaranteed for life.

    Brochure can be downloaded from:

[I can't post a link yet - my first reply. You will have to go to the Bupa website]

I reviewed the Platinum plan. Best I could find.

    Best regards,

    Scott Minteer

I checked out several companies and BUPA seemed to have the best range of options. They will not cover pre-existing conditions under any of their plans.

If anybody would like an individual quotation my wife can do for you make her happy.

    Premier Lite
    (for residents of Thailand)

Premier Lite is specially designed for those living in Thailand who want to ensure they are fully covered for possible major in-patient treatment.

It is underwritten by LMG Pacific Healthcare, part of the Liberty Mutual Group, one of the largest financial organizations in the world. Emergency services are provided by Med-Sure.

    Key Benefits:
    • Coverage up to 5 million baht per year (total lifetime limit 20 million baht)
    • Guaranteed renewability – regardless of age and medical history
    • Choice of medical care providers
    • Recreational sports cover
    • 24-hour Emergency assistance
    • Emergency evacuation

Not a bad price for farang if you are sickly, but I don't think that for me it would be a good deal, even if I did not have coverage, as I have never been sickly and I am to old now to change so it will be the Big Oven at the WAT when I get sick like that.
A trip to the doc is about 200 baht (and same brand meds here for 10% of USA price) including meds, Chest Xray or ECG $6.
Friends GF needed an emergency appendectomy, and 4 days in a private room was less than 4000 baht. and that was at CMU Suan Dok Hospital.
Medical care here is really very cheap if you stay away from Pattaya and BKK hospitals where they know how easy it is to get money from a farang.
