The COPD or emfazema, which ever you choose I guess, has cause me to have Cor Pulmanale which was caused from pumping to much oxy poor blood thru my lungs and now I have to take a small 1/2 pill daily of Digoxin 0.25 mg. and the right ventrical is getting to muscular..
But my doctor never charges me anything unless I buy meds from him and he gets the profits. where in the states the doc charged me $50 or $100 for 5 minutes of his time. which being on SSA and paying for medicaid I never went past the minimum required.
I had exactly the same problem just over a year ago. Had a wee heart attack and spent 10 days in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit). They tried twice to put a stent in but couldn't clear the blockage. Went home for a week and came back and they were successful on the third attempt.Originally Posted by good2bhappy

Just had to lie there watching it all on the monitor. Weird, weird feeling but morphine is a wonderful thing.
And it was all FREE.
Glad it all panned out well in the end....stay healthy
I was admitted to a well known Pattaya Hospital last year with a liver absyss. A previous misdiagnosis in Bangkok meant that I was on the wrong anti biotics for 10 days. When I finally checked in at Pattaya on deaths door they were excellent and without doubt saved my bacon . It was the only time in my life upto then that I had had to contemplate what kind of yarn I was going to have to spin with St. Peter to explain a life of extreme dissipation and idleness.
However, the day before I was discharged I cleared my tab for 4 nights stay etc and it came to 85,000 baht. That was 5.00 p.m. The next morning as I was leaving I was presented with a further bill of 45,000 baht for the extra nights stay, a final consultation and a few pills to take home. This confused me so I asked for a complete breakdown of the final bill. This did not go down too well but I was shortly presented with the requested breakdown which was the same as the first bill but typed over two pieces of paper and padded out with a few extra items. Feeling too weak to query further and not wishing to seem ungrateful for my life I paid up and went to recouperate my strength in a hotel. Nonetheless, I feel sure that ' rounding up ' bills to the nearest ten thousand baht is common practice in many hospital where foreigners are the main customers.

Glad to hear everything went well and I hope you progress to good health mate.
Long live the Happy People!
Yes, it does, and no, it won't.
Good set up for a joke, but most cardiac problems or heart attacks are not due to anger or stress, but simply due to lifestyle choices -- smoking, drinking, unhealthy eating, and maintaining an overweight or obese physique are among the prime candidates for heart attacks -- invariably, high blood pressure is a first indicator (which also places the individual at risk of strokes), and high cholesterol levels (from unhealthy food) are early indicators.
There is a very small genetic component at play as well - but in our present culture of self-abuse it has become nearly negligible.
I sincerely hope you are making the necessary lifestyle changes both to prevent a re-occurrence, and to reverse other ongoing damages you undoubtedly carry with it -- you can reverse most anything by changes in your lifestyle.
Good luck.
"emphysema"? Smoke much?
Did you quit?
This thread is shocking to see how many folks have had serious medical conditions -- I'm glad you're all okay, and lived to be able to post here.

Something that given your medical condition you may not be able or inclined to do!
anythign in the world looks good compared to the US medical system. Why dont you compare it to a real country's medical system...Originally Posted by mongo1936

This is a very good OP, it cant be told often enough that we should not accept the first price in the private hospitals here, they are essentially robbing people if they can get away with it.
Wish you a speedy recovery G2BH.
Thats for sure, I always worked union jobs in the states and sometimes O'seas, the benefit package was damn near equal to my pay per hour, which covered the Health & welfare, Vacation pay, and pension.Originally Posted by robuzo
