Just started my new whey protein schedule today -

8 to 10 protein shakes a day. I eat also eat fresh fruit 4 times a day.

Feel better than ruining my good eating habits by meeting a TD poster at Tenderloins last nigh. What a HUGE plate of Freedom fries they serve there!!!!!!

    ^hahah!

8-10 protein shakes seems high. Are you trying to build muscle or gain weight?

I'm getting my protein on Monday. I can't believe it cost 120 dollars for Optimum peformance whey. They have to ship it and deliver it from the USA, but it is way to expensive. Nothing but the best though.

Before the gym I always make a protein shake. 1 scoop of whey protein, 2 frozen bananas, 2 whole raw eggs, about 200ml of whole milk all mixed in a blender. Gives you lots of energy that lasts through the workout and the bananas are great in helping to prevent muscle cramps.

^^ I was looking at the price of protein here in the UK and it's as expenisve as it was to buy in Korea.

I would have expected it to be cheaper, but it's not.

Still buying a 60 quid 10kg barrel of it is cheaper than drinking all that milk

What are taking the protein for?

If it is to lose weight, then do replacement shakes.

Also they have Thai made whey protein at GNC stores in Thailand.

^I'm working out five days a week, and doing Muay Thai. I also don't eat a lot of protein as I barely drink milk, or eat red meat. I need it to aid in my weight loss, but also as a recovery drink. I haven't taken replacement shakes, and I'm not too fond of them. I'd rather eat a healthy meal instead. My trainer was telling me to take the protein three times a day. Once in the morning, once before working out, and once after working out. Does that sounds about right?

I don't want to overdo the protein?

There is no GNC here in Korea, so I hate the fact that I can't get alot of the products I used to buy in Canada.

Wow, that sounds like too much fat and carbs for me. I want to just get protein, maybe add a banana (for potassium), and flax seed oil (omega 3 and 6's). That does sound like an amazing meal though.

I think whey protein is better than milk. Protein is expensive..I didn't realize you weren't in Korea anymore. Miss it? ㅑ 애ㅕㅅ ㅑㅅ

How about Soy milk instead or regualr milk?

why protein is expensive and the effects are neglible, IMO, unless you're competing, or a model of some sort, where working out and "looks" are paramount to a particular profession. Athletes, too.

There are several online shops that sell protein in Korea

maxpower is one and there is another

PM Spliff - he has a better memory than me - 10kg barrel of Bioplex for 130000W

I got some Korean branded stuff for 30k per kg that was ok as well, they said they just bought it in bulk from America and packaged it in Korea

Cost effective though - 10kg protein gives you 6 months of shakes - one scoop a day - 160 ish days - 60pounds/160= 0.38p per day.

    A small carton of milk - 70p half a dozen eggs - 1 pound

I just don't find them filling, and I'm still hungry afterwards. I haven't found a good place to buy a good meal replacement either. I like Soy Milk, but again, hard to find here. Do you have soy milk in Thailand. Are there many GNC's in BKK?

    Chocolate Protein Bar Recipe

If you’re mad for chocolate treats but don’t want to ruin your hard-won body, why not enhance it with this excellent chocolate protein bar recipe I recently found…

    Ingredients:

    • Take 2 scoops of your favorite chocolate protein powder (ON 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein is recommended)
    • 1 cup of oats
    • 2 whole eggs
    • 1/2 cup Splenda® low calorie sweetener
    • 2 tsp of baking powder
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 3/4 cup of water

    Directions:

    • Mix ingredients in a bowl (don’t blend).
    • Bake inside loaf pan (greased) at 350F for approx 40 minutes.

Of course, to make the bars, you simply need to cut into segments. These bars are very calorie dense, so they make excellent meal replacement bars, and are great for bulking – just don’t go too heavy on them if you are trying to lose fat.

Here is a low fat one - 3g fat per bar.

Protein bars can be a great source of energy. They can also be very expensive and taste like crap. I must have looked through 50 recipes online over the weekend looking for a good one. Ingredients

    • 3 1/2 cups quick oats
    • 1 1/2 cups nonfat dry milk
    • 4 scoops protein powder (I used chocolate)
    • 1/4 cup flax seeds
    • 1 cup sugar free maple syrup
    • 2 egg whites
    • 1/4 cup orange juice
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/2 cup natural applesauce (unsweetened)
    Directions

    1. Beat the egg whites in a bowl
    2. Mix the egg whites with the orange juice, applesause, syrup, and vanilla
    3. In another bowl mix the oats, dry milk, protein powder, and flax seeds
    4. Add the liquid mix to the dry mix and stir until everything is completely worked together. It will turn out similar to cookie dough.
    5. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
    6. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray
    7. Spread batter into the dish
    8. Bake for 25-30 minutes
    9. Allow to completely cool and then cut into bars
    10. Store some of the bars in an airtight container and some in the freezer
    Nutrition

12 bars which gives the following per bar:
    • 187 calories
    • 27g of carbohydrates
    • 15g of protein
    • 3g of fat
    • 4g of fiber

Those bars look really good MrSquirrel and Chi. Cheers for that idea.
I just have to get myself an oven or a toaster oven to make these.

I just picked up my whey protein at the gym last night, and the protein is very good and tasty (whey protein isolate- optimum whey, double chocolate flavor).

    ^ really???

    From another site -

No, because it is too low a dose. You have more chance of developing breasts from drinking beer.

That's what a trainer told me. I assume you have to take a lot of Soy, but the info inavailable on the internet, I'm sure.

I've read this and heard this also.

But remember, a lot of people go heavy on the protein. If they're using Soy for a protein source, they may have high a dose.

Yes, beer can cause it in some people if they imbib a lot.
