BANGKOK — Foreigners living on Thai soil will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines, a health official said Thursday, though details of which are yet to be revealed.
Opas Karnkawinpong, director of the Department of Disease Control, said everyone living in Thailand, both Thai and foreign, are included in the government’s ambitious plan to inoculate at least 70 percent of the population by the end of the year. However, he did not provide a time frame or other details on how a foreign national can register for the jabs.
“Everyone living in Thailand, whether Thai or foreigner, will get the vaccine if they consent to it,” he said.
My dear chap, we are all trapped, it's just that some are too deluded to comprehend it.
Sounds promising (and good luck) but (for now),………..
Q: Has the U.S. Embassy thought about a plan to offer the vaccination to U.S. citizens?
A: The United States government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. U.S. citizens traveling or residing abroad should follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Trapped where? Here? Trapped is a state of mind dear chap. I would think a guy with your self proclaimed intelligence would know that. I guess the air is a little thin at your elevation
Personally I am free to go anywhere I want and have the funds to do so. I do not make excuses and whinge. If it was as bad as you constantly ramble on about i'd be gone in a minute but it really isn't considering the global circumstances and the options.
Yet another change
Over 60s in Thailand to have option of Sinovac vaccine, not just AstraZeneca
People aged 60 or over in Thailand now have the option of having the Chinese-made Sinovac, instead of just AstraZeneca’s vaccine, in a sudden change of policy by the National Communicable Disease Committee (NCDC).
Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said today, after a meeting of the NCDC, that the committee had received an updated report on the efficacy and safety of Sinovac vaccine and agreed that it could be given to people over 60.
He said inoculation with Sinovac for the over 60s will begin after clearance of a legal issue by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Some elderly people are hesitant to take the AstraZeneca vaccine, after reports of a handful of serious side effects, such as blood clots, in some European countries.
The committee also discussed the expansion of vaccination facilities and vaccination for the 16 million workers.
Disease Control Department Director-General Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong said that vaccination of the working age group could start in June, the same time as for those aged over 60s, noting that the number of employees registered to receive vaccinations is still low.
Meanwhile, Russian-made Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V has not been approved for use in Thailand yet, as certain vital information regarding production procedures, quality control, efficacy, safety and risk management of the vaccine remains missing.
FDA Secretary-General Dr. Paisal Dunkhum said today that his office is still awaiting such information from KinGen Biotec, a Thai importer of the Sputnik V vaccine.
He said that the requirement for this vital information is internationally recognised standard practice for the assessment of a vaccine before an approval is granted, adding that the assessment will take about 30 days from the receipt of the documents.

For the US embassy saga, i heard that they did bring in vaccine, but it was for their staff. Which makes a fair bit of sense.
Correct.
"The Department of State does not provide direct medical care, including vaccinations, to private U.S. citizens abroad. We are committed to providing all possible consular assistance to U.S. citizens in need overseas, including by providing information on local medical resources when appropriate. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination."
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"
Keep in mind this applies to Roi Et only.
Went to Ampoe med center yesterday.
Verified I (farang over 60 with pink ID) will be offered the AstraZeneca free of charge in August. Reason for August is based on availability of vaccine in Roi Et as per the national roll out plan. If you are in a Red province, vaccine will be available earlier.
Also went to 2 private hospitals and heard basically the same with these differences.
Cost of vaccine 3k baht and pink ID not required.
So there ya have it as of 10 May.
Historically Thailand has done a good job of covering their bets making sure they have contingencies. Playing off rival nations against each other to gain favor with both for example.
Was wondering today if the complete bollocks the government of Thailand has made of vaccine rollout would have been different had the virus hit 7 or 8 years ago when the "head" of the government was still alive?
I am sure it would have been and by now at least half the population would have been vaccinated.
I said before (and got blasted by the "experts" on the board), that the main "bet" Thailand has been playing is holding off importing anything good until they can ramp up production of the locally produced AstraZeneca vaccine. The politics behind that is fairly straight forward.
I agree.
Today was surprising. Our Mooban leader and his admin dropped by. They had a checklist and want to confirm if I want to be vaccinated. Its all scheduled. Should happen in a few weeks. AstraZeneca. All good for me. I didn't have to run around and do a bunch of Line apps, and go back and forth. The gal will bring me a confirmation and date slip in a few days. That was easy
Sadly though, my wife has to wait being she is 49.
Barrow just tweeted about a farang that went to get vaccinated today but was turned away because his blood pressure was too high.
I haven't read anywhere about inoculations being declined due to other medical conditions. They have been administering shots to people with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol in the states without concerns. Maybe this guy was about to implode.
Probably has to do with ducks....
Same process used here however other than collecting who wanted the vaccine, actually entering names in the system, here in Roiet this will be done in August. August because this is when the "plan" has vaccine available here.
Forgot where you are JPPR2 but looks your province is higher up on vaccine availability.
Maybe a few days or may be far more. Will all depend on vaccine availability.
So, apparently the Moderna and J&J vaccines have now been formally approved for use in Thailand. Two more (covaxin and sputnik V) are still under consideration.
Now, if they just imported the f*cking things and made them available, well, that would be good....
