To be honest I don't really know but they would never Know unless I told them. Cant see why it would though ?

Don't mater anyway as I've got only a few weeks to go before I'm retiring.

I could possibly see if I could go for a medical retirement but would rather just get on with my life as it would be drawn out affair for sure.

Anyway today I fronted my Doctor, I have type 2 diabetes. Its only just come on in the last 6 months and I need to be careful with my Diet and up my exercise to keep it at this level.

If I carry on drinking to much beer and don't watch my diet it will progress to the stage that requires medication and risk Heart Attack, stroke, amputation and other hideous complications of diabetes.

Up to me Innit. I can still have a few drinks but must cut out any major sessions.

My diet has always been fairly good anyway so that's no big deal. Its the beer as its full of sugar.

When I was back in Aus over Xmas i think, went to one of those Home Shows and got assaulted by a sexy looking blonde thing who proceeded to drag me into a tent. "This is new" I thought and odder still was it was hard to resist her Aryan charms. But I am glad i didn't reading this thread now.

Basically she was a healthpro, doing random assessments for the public's benefit on diabetes.

I hit all the markers. High blood pressure, alcohol intake, high cholesterol but had a good kind in there somewhere, smoked, diet and exercise under what was ideal/.

Pre diabetic almost she said but am saved for my age, 44 and a chance to rectify, make changes.

A little bit like so many others here, it had hit me gradually. Exercise had never been a problem but i had gotten lazy. The smoking thing was a tomorrow surety, and beer a long time lifestyle choice and largely responsible for the situation i think.

Hearing about the stories here, [and terry's mum in particular..my dad had it] i am on board.

I would add. I don't think Thailand is a helpful place to deal with type 2. Exercising is a drive to the stadium kinda thing, a swim in a pool is to get something worse or a ride on a bike is to not make it home, the food is all fried in low grade old, already saturated fat oil, cigarettes @ $1.5/packet, booze and associated activities 100 metres from almost anywhere. Not to mention the stress of commuting.. regardless how you do it.

All that shit is real here in Thailand but in every sense, an excuse too.

Diabetes is just more real if that makes sense. Blindness is the scary fukker for me. I have very poor eyesight in my one good eye.

So i am following on from flicking the cigs to the beer, and a regime with exercise and diet conciliatory to all that. Problem is that i love carbs. My bad luck. Feeling the fear helps because otherwise ...

Good luck to the op and also everyone else who has posted here.

I swear to god though, if post cigarettes and then beer, if i wake one day a Buddhist, even feeling Buddhist in 6 months or so or even a touch native, I am going to take up smoking again, eat as much fried street and microwaved 7/11 shit as i can and begin the endless bender.

One final thing. The time has come for exercise.

Any recommendations on where I can get a half-decent mountain bike from that will hold my frame or do you know of a good, second-hand one for sale?

    Cheers, DsD.

being a falung best to stay from large amounts of rice diabetes a will happen
