I can't say I've had a really 'good' ramen here in LoS. Most if it seems to be just OK. Maybe it's because the noodles are the dried packaged type as opposed to it being hand made on the premises..
Many places serve a lunch set with ramen + sushi/something else, which would prolly be good for the kids as an ice-cream or fruit desert is part of the deal.
A place called Grand Ramen, 100 metres down the road from sukhumvit 55 is pretty good, and reasonably priced..
Thanks mate, guess I better pick you up as well, and buy ya a bowl of noodles!!??
^would be my pleasure
Let's make a day of it and have an afternoon around the pool afterwards
Well wally on your recommendation i tried ootoya at thonglor
and it was bloody good, me new favourite methinks
anybodyelse here an Iron Chef fan?
I'm glad to hear that reinvented! The otooya lunch set with the potatoe croquet and chicken cutlet is great - and a bargain at 150baths.
There is a new all you can eat sushi restaurant on thonglor soi 13 which is good too. I foget the name of it but it's next door to the Nihonmura complex...will get back to you about it, maybe even take some pics..
I must admit, I didn't take much notice of this post when I first read it, but if you are refering to the bowling alley at j-avenue, then I take your challenge and shall destroy you in the game of ten pin-bowling!Originally Posted by mrsquirrel
You should try out Nobu too, which is across the road from J-Ave .....and a little to the right.. Tel: 0 2392 5297 |Originally Posted by reinvented

Iron Chef.....hmmmmmm, can't say I am a fan, but My gal in japan was and I have watched many episodes..... great concept for a show, and some of the food they make is amazing...maybe it was the japanese commentators that used to annoy me..

You can't beat a bit of Futomakki with Kotoba Saki - served at the right tempreture, what this is I haven't a clue.
^'Futomaki' is for farangs who cant use chopsticks..
And 'Kotoba Saki' literally means Word Alcohol, so possibly you are refering to a karoake bar that serves sushi rolls, Shrinking Violet?

So sorry oh great bumhole...
The kotaba saki I was referring to is from the north of Japan. Its called Kotoba - something..
^just having a dig me 'ol mucker, no need to get all quirky..... shake means salmon....maybe you are thinking of this..
The name of the all you can eat sushi place on thonglor soi 13 is Tsubakiya

I had the pleasure to eat at Seoul with the author of this thread. We had the beef and Wally showed me how to mix it all together with the Korean gravy, garlic, and sesame seeds. So damn good and cheap as hell at 89B.
I would go back anytime I was in the area. Wally lives in food heaven.
Wally,
You ever been to one of the Japanese eateries with a nude Japanese girl as the platter ? Usually the sushi houses.
^No I haven't, SK..
But I was once taken to a place by some punch permed yellow shaded chaps, where you choose the fish, squid, etc, from a large pond it the restaurant, before the staff pin it to a piece of wood, and slice it in a way that you can take slices with your chopsticks and eat it.....with the fish staring at you and still wriggling!
How about yourself? Do the military brass in japan get wined and dined in such places??
I enjoyed it too, matey!Originally Posted by aging one
I had the salmon set there yesterday...
I will have to come in one more time before I go off to work. Even a cheap git like me pays for the host when its that good and fairly priced.
The burbs on the sky train going home were great also.
I'm always paranoid of my garlic breath after i have lunch there, and usually apologise to my students for smelling..Originally Posted by aging one
I am spending this weekend alone. Maybe a good japanese meal would help me to get more fun.
