Yeah, I dont mind a bit of banter really. I expected as much when I joined here, hissy fits and all.

Ok, I have to say, suk 7/11 and that part of the jungle certainly a good spot for a bit of ''people watching'.

Can you believe I have actually been to soi 7/1. Yep and I even had a (obe) beer there. I am pretty adventerous like that.

However I am sorry to dissapoint as it was way down the end on the left hand side which was a place with no girls, no pool tables etc etc. I had my beer and read the Post (only takes 1 beer) and then left.

I have heard many stories that the bloke who runs the down under bar is a total piss pot and is seen falling over behind the bar off his head by 5pm on some occasions.

Rob - he likes his beers ( dont we all ) but i've never seen him totally wasted - he's a good bloke.

2 additional advantages to the Downunder that poolie perhaps neglected to mention....

1. U can watch the cricket while sitting OUTSIDE ! unlike the half dozen other bars in town that show God's game - the busstop used to be good for that reason also, but I'm not sure wotz happening with the building etc.

- this is good - because cricket is supposed to be watched in the heat and sun and with copious quantities of beer on an sunny arvo

2. they also offer free BBQ bar snacks at around 6.00 if you've had 2 or more drinks. hmmm - sausages, steak, burgers!

If I was to start a thread with loads of colorful pictures on orchids or thai wood carvings should I expect a reply saying 'orchids suck' or 'thai wood carvings are total crap compared to balinese and the people who buy them are dickheads!'

At least Smeg could offer sounds reasons why he didn't like afterwork bar and why he liked gullivers. Now anyone going out has a choice of two placves they can play pool and drink and make up their own mnds.

Constructive criticism, alternatives that in someone's opinion are better that's what I expect to have as replies.
Not a case of agree or disagree at all.
When I've got a night away from the missus I'll hopefully do soi 22 and then soi 33, basically a report on what's available to punters.

If your hunting for pussie then madness is correct...basically they're a bunch of mingers in Soi7/1, including the yellowliners at Eden

but if your looking for a 'home'...somewhere to drink on a regular basis and enjoy some intelligent conversation with other expats..then "Downunder Bar' is a good choice.
