Yeah, I dont mind a bit of banter really. I expected as much when I joined here, hissy fits and all.
Ok, I have to say, suk 7/11 and that part of the jungle certainly a good spot for a bit of ''people watching'.

Bkkmadness a nasty poster? Get off it! He posts like a mook
Well I got my avatar sorted today, bit of flaming, settling in, settling in.
Nice thread Pooly.
You'll have to take me down there one afternoon. I'll give the Crown Lager a try at the Down Under bar and some Guinness at the other place.
Ok BKK madness has been banned for being a total cnut, my mate bob told me to ban him, shame really as i feel sure he could have contributed to this forum if he wasn't such a sex tourist, erm one minute I got to question Bob again, na he said ban the cnut, shame really...
Let me get to 100 posts first dude, someone told me I would see this forum in a different light when I got there and I'm just too curious now. Kinda feel like a 'lost' opening the hatch moment is coming on.
Good thread Pooly.
Can you believe I have actually been to soi 7/1. Yep and I even had a (obe) beer there. I am pretty adventerous like that.
However I am sorry to dissapoint as it was way down the end on the left hand side which was a place with no girls, no pool tables etc etc. I had my beer and read the Post (only takes 1 beer) and then left.
I have heard many stories that the bloke who runs the down under bar is a total piss pot and is seen falling over behind the bar off his head by 5pm on some occasions.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
I think this madness guy has got his sois mixed up, he keeps calling it 7/11. Now I don't think that I have ever seen soi 7/11, soi 7/1 yes
Maddy had probably over done it with the whiskey again! Off the wagon again I see you mofo
Rob - he likes his beers ( dont we all ) but i've never seen him totally wasted - he's a good bloke.Originally Posted by MeMock
2 additional advantages to the Downunder that poolie perhaps neglected to mention....
1. U can watch the cricket while sitting OUTSIDE ! unlike the half dozen other bars in town that show God's game - the busstop used to be good for that reason also, but I'm not sure wotz happening with the building etc.
- this is good - because cricket is supposed to be watched in the heat and sun and with copious quantities of beer on an sunny arvo
2. they also offer free BBQ bar snacks at around 6.00 if you've had 2 or more drinks. hmmm - sausages, steak, burgers!
The thread is an information item. If people are coming to BKK they want to know where they can expect what! People would be happy to know that they can get Aussie beers (god forbid) close to Nana BTS.Originally Posted by Ice Maiden
I certainly expect people to disagree if it's not to their tastes but to slag the place off as mad did and not offer any alternative seems a bit negative and, given his recent abode, perhaps trollish.
(And the newbie thing was a barb as I'm very familiar with Bkkmadness and where he's from!)
If I was to start a thread with loads of colorful pictures on orchids or thai wood carvings should I expect a reply saying 'orchids suck' or 'thai wood carvings are total crap compared to balinese and the people who buy them are dickheads!'
At least Smeg could offer sounds reasons why he didn't like afterwork bar and why he liked gullivers. Now anyone going out has a choice of two placves they can play pool and drink and make up their own mnds.
Constructive criticism, alternatives that in someone's opinion are better that's what I expect to have as replies.
Not a case of agree or disagree at all.
When I've got a night away from the missus I'll hopefully do soi 22 and then soi 33, basically a report on what's available to punters.
C'mon Memock, even I have been there. I like the outside tables.Originally Posted by MeMock

Do I have to?? It looks like the wiring in every other soi in Bangkok, and it took me years to stop noticing it!Originally Posted by poolcleaner

but if your looking for a 'home'...somewhere to drink on a regular basis and enjoy some intelligent conversation with other expats..then "Downunder Bar' is a good choice.

The very worst part for wires is at Pratunam in that area near the Baiyoke Tower behind the Indra.
I wondered if you'd stroll past this one!Originally Posted by klongmaster
Good thread though..nice of you to take the time on your day off
I'm still trying to work out how you would get an intelligent conversation out of a bunch of antipodeans....
I think the cultured folk from the northern hemisphere just go along to have a quiet laugh...and the sport of course!Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
