    Christmas Dinner

In England we have our main meal on Christmas Day at midday.
I have been working on the menu and this is how it looks so far:

    Caviar (sourced from Kazakhstan)
Verve Cliquot Champagne (courtesy of Butterfly)

Roast Turkey, Stuffing, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, gravy cranberry sauce. (two turkeys roasted whole for 10 persons)
Served with either Barton and Guestier Pouilly Fuisse 2003 or a 1999 Chiarello Petite Sirah from Napa Valley.

    A whole roast ham

Traditional Christmas Pudding with brandy butter (sourced from the Shangri La)
Les Sables D'or Sauternes 2005 desert wine

    Coffee and mince pies

^Sounds great, but I think Butterfly sold you a knock off copy Champagne. If it is Veuve Clicot you will have a better time.

And, the Caviar, could be very nice, is is Sevruga from Sturgeon? If from the North Caspian very nice, but the Kazakh side is not so nice.

Yes, sevruga. Surprisingly, considering the pollution, the Kazakh caviar is very good

You're talking to someone who lived there and Moscow and ate kilos of the stuff when it was best. Love to know your source? Where did you get it and how much? You're in Thailand? Hard to get.

I didn't realize that about you. I know Almaty (we called it Almata then) and Aktau very, very well. I'm still quite famous there.

Ok you bring the cheese - actually I have some Australian port which may go well with it. I have a huge gruyere cheese at home but would rather save it...

Nice to see we have some dedicated foodies on board.

Do you know that the traditional Christmas lunch is not turkey at all? Turkey is a relatively recent import from North America. It is roast goose.

It seems you have only mentioned about half of what you're having for the main course. Where's the rest of it?

I wouldn't waste any effort with the fizzy wine either, unless you intend to spray it over the motocy boys at the end of the soi.

Ya, where's the blinis and frozen Stolys to go with the caviar? And candied yams? Crusty buns with slabs of butter? Dressing? Stuffing? Veg -- cauliflower in cheese sauce, asparagus, salad?
We want pics. We want pics.

1 Roast Turkey...took 6 hrs to cook on a low temp!
Veg was a pain in the arse cos I had to go to bangkok for most of it.
    Sprouts,mash,broc,mixed veg,stuffing balls,green beans,cranberry sauce and gravy.
It went down a treat, next year I'll do an all you can eat buffet!!

yes, we had stuffing, cauliflower cheese as well as a rather pleasing bread sauce.

was a good turnout - we even got a celebrity visit from the Moog in the aftrenoon.

The only downside was that butterfly finished all my gruyere (he didnt bring any cheese of his own despite the promises....)

^^ Broccoli cheese is better than cauliflower cheese, just my 2 cents worth.
