Bricks and Bone is located on either Ramkhamhaeng 24, soi Interplace or on Rama 9, soi 41 and turning right just behind the "Mall Nine".
It's a piece of heaven located in the in the heart of the Ramhkamhaeng area and definitely the first pub I've seen in the area that is farangish in decor, menu and atmosphere.
The place is decorated with traditional beer mirror signs coupled with industrial type furniture. I was well relieved my stool was made from 1/2" steel piping.
The food is American classic high end bar food with a southern slant. From nachos, to NZ steaks to wonderful ribs, they have it all.
The owner was a former bar caterer, so the bar is stocked with absolutely anything you could wish for and more.
We started the visit realizing neither of us picked up either camera that we normally use to take our photos with, so the pictures here are from the wife's less than new phone.
We started with the beef nachos and calarmari.
The meat and salsa on the nachos were absolutely wonderful. The salsa was obviously freshly made and the nachos were light yet held up to the stresses we put them under.
The calamari however left a lot to be desired. The batter on the rings was very hard to the point you couldn't enjoy the squid inside.
I asked the server about the beers they have on offer and I was told that the house specialized in Baird beers. He went on to tell me that these beers were hand crafted beers from Japan, under Thai management. I decided to give one a try...
I found the ale very, very hoppy and was less than welmed with it. There seemed to be something missing from the flavor profile that I've yet to put my finger on.
While I was sampling the beer, our chicken kebabs/skewers arrived...
Beware of the chilies/peppers....either I've become a wimp or they were frigging hot, however the rest of the skewer was wonderful. Both the wife and I enjoyed them.
While we were eating, a platter of their ribs came out and I asked if I could take pictures of the beast, a least a half rack of ribs.
I talked with the owner and asked him if his staffed had trained in the US and of course his chef had...he then treated the wife and I to a rib sample.
The good: The ribs had a nice texture and a great taste.
The bad: Their original sauce is spicy enough to kill small children, however their sweet sauce is quite nice.
I decided to try a porter to go with the ribs...because nothing say ribs like a porter...
It was quite nice with a great balance of bitter and sweet, with the usual chocolate notes hovering on the back of the palate.
The wife and I really liked the place and for the price, it's a great place to go out for an after work beer or three. The food was above average and the prices were right.
I'd give it a 8.11237 / 10.
