You think they can be grown in the tropics ? You tried ? Thanks anyway.
I will clean my glasses next time I go to Macro and pickle them myself.

Too hot, especially in Southern Thailand's tropical year long climate.

Maybe you can grow them in Chiang Mai.

What do you do with them?

    Pickled beetroots

Here you got the recipe. Very delicious - eat them with meat, meatballs, in sallads,
on the liver pate, use your imagination. The canned variety you get in Thailand is a huge insult to the wonderful and extremely healthy beetroot

white wine vinegar is good too

I find the Thai beetroots to be a little earthy in flavour compared to the Euro versions, maybe no sweetness to them?

Yes. I've been getting from Macro lately and they seem similar to Euro/American types. Thinking they are from temperate zones in China.

    I make borscht with them.

Poor old Marmite - can't help himself. I was going back through the early history of the deportees from blighty recently and his forebears and some of their friends feature heavily.

His favourite labotomy procedure is in fact to clear all the shit out of the head that he carries on with so the colonials had some chance at a new life.

The real tragedy is we might be related.....

I'm not 150 years old, so it's unlikely I knew any early Ockers.
