My brothers and I made many of these types of traps growing up. We had a fairly big creek running through our farm. Some great times!

A man needs a woman like a fish needs a bicycle.

    A Frilled Shark

That's a mean looking fish. They normally live at 600-1000 metres and feed on other sharks. I'm glad it's not possible to go down that far, it's a bloody horror show down there!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

EU unveils major Common Fisheries Policy reform

The Commission says at present, three out of four species are overfished. In the Mediterranean, 82% of fish stocks are overfished, while in the Atlantic, the figure stands at 63%.

Under the new scheme, boats are expected to land all the fish caught, and the whole catch would count against quotas. This would apply to species including mackerel, herring and tuna from the beginning of 2014.

Cod, hake and sole would follow a year later, with virtually every other commercial species coming under the regulation from 2016.
