    Either Jewish or non-religious. Islam only came several hundred years later.

    It's just a natural progression from text to text - don't forget that Hebrew uses a different alphabet (as does Aramaic, of course.) so it is a matter of transliteration.

    Jesus' name was something like Yeshua. In arabic Jesus is Isa. Eashoa in Aramaic.


    Did I mention that Sunday school rocks!!!! After all these years it is proving useful!
