Doodlebug, who's now 15 months old, was found abandoned a little over a year ago and was too young to take care of himself. The cute little guy is undergoing a "soft-release," or gradual return to the wild, Beshara says. Doodlebug currently hangs out in the forest near Abbot's home but comes back for the occasional extra feeding.
As for Doodlebug's teddy bear, the kangaroo uses the stuffed animal just as a toddler would -- as his little friend.
"He lies next to it, practices his kicking against it and cuddles it," Beshara said.
