The inane idea of delivering packages by drone. Or maybe free skeet shooting.

Indeed . . . which makes BM's comment even more puzzling . . . maybe he was distracted by the rifle and thought Germans are getting free rifles

Modern U.S. corporations sure do come up with some dumbass ideas.
Starbucks 'lets chat about race' initiative is another that comes to mind.

The drone delivery may not be as dumbass as it seems to us right now. I was chatting with a young man the other day who said the idea is, in the very near future people will have their own drone landing pad and address. That's how we will be getting our mail and other deliveries.

^ Our dog is too small but he doesn't like Vespas and tries to chase them up the street. Why because many strangers come to our place with deliveries riding a Vespa so he associates Vespas with strangers. Imagine what a field day a German Sheperd or any other large dog would have with a drone.
Never mind my dog ate my homework. Sorry my dog ate your drone.

Automation and robotics. Great idea? There are already not enough jobs to go around, now we want to do away with delivery drivers?

Parcel delivery with drones is a solution looking for a problem and not vice versa.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

So you base your opinion on what that young man said?
    Think about the practicalities.
    It'll never become a 'thing'.

^ That's exactly what my father said about PCs.

Use in urban areas where drone pads can be placed on balconies of apartments and condos is practical, I think.

Just posted news story in World News.

https://teakdoor.com/world-news/15254...et-canada.html (Amazon tests delivery drones at secret Canada site after US frustration)

    We can discuss there.

You got that right. My dog has no problem trying to take a chunk out of my 44 cc, 102 inch span RC airplane. Really have to watch her. That whole drone idea is quite FU-prone. Plus... They rely on LIPO batteries that have that occasional volcano syndrome. I tried flying electric helicopters for a while but after two battery packs melted down, I went back to fuel. Friend back in the USA had his camper burn due to an electric RC plane he had on charge inside.

Super easy. Google map co-ordinates and GPS. The drones wholesale with this tech for about 100 quid each.

Silk Road is rolling out a fleet of drones with Amazon.com liveries as we speak

Is it a book or a bag of smack?

Will be as exciting as Christmas Day to a nipper (obviously in the places you're still allowed to celebrate Christmas that is )
