    I think the fire hydrant was on the other side of the train tracks.
    Placing protective ramps over the hose was a waste of time, as a train would smash it all to smitherines.

    ^My local trains are stopped for leaves /snow/rain/wind/heat and just to "regulate the service"

    so at least they are trying!

    although I would say the fire brigade get right of way in this matter and would simply demand all trains are stopped, and no need for such gizmo's!

    Well even I am smart enough to know one always cuts through the bottom of the bark of a branch first. Mostly to avoid stripping the bark off the remaining stub but also to prevent what happened above!
