I'm just about to watch the BBC 10 O'clock news...
let's see how many minutes they give this story
I depend on TV5 for the news from Thailand at
Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Channel 5 ··º.5.
Khun Thawinun Kongkraan will report every move the military makes,
under "Today News" section.
Manager Online is best on reporting the hourly news.
This was a big story here tonight - main topic for 10 mins.
From the wife. "Wednesday has been delcared a holiday, for all of Thailand, additionally, all officials are supposed to meet at 0900 to hear the new rules."
This comes from a Thai channel (all Thai channels are now showing the same thing.)
CNN, BBC, MSNBC still shutdown.
Phew, just finished reading all that.
My brother just rang me at 5.30am to tell me the news, thanks for the coverage everyone.
Leading all news bullitens in Australia.
Now i've just got to decide wether to follow the coup or watch steve irwins funeral.
HAI Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra plans to leave the United States today after the military coup against him, said a senior Thai official, adding that his destination was not known.
The Thai military acted against Thaksin while he was at the UN General Assembly in New York and the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was "not sure" whether Mr Thaksin would go back to Bangkok.
The leader still had an official plane at his disposal, said the official.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
Is is a holiday then?
Dunno...but I am thinking of taking one here in sympathy
BBC still up on Korat City Cable TV.
Well I'm off to watch the funeral.
According to 'Manager On-Line', Thaksin will eventually give his speech to the UN at 8:00 in the morning, of September 20th. I saw on our local TV that his speech was cancelled, only 45 minutes after the above was reported. Who to believe?
Thai Ambassador to the US in Washington DC, Mr. Veerasak Futrakul, gave a brief interview this afternoon. Thaksin now has to revise his speech to include the current situation in Thailand.
The real joke was that the speaker of the PM, Dr. Suraphong Wuepwong, gave an interview stating that the Thai military will not succeed, and Thaksin still has control.
Schools are closed.
He might as well give the speach. It could possibly be the last thing he ever does as PM...He won't get to open the new airport, but he'll get to address the U.N. That's not to shabby (even if they are snickering to him in the audience...)
Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money.
Australian media is saying he is going ahead with his speech.
Jeese First night in months I go to sleep earl;y and they throw a party in Bangkok. I take it personally, I tell you. The internet up here seems to be quicker than ever before though
Woke up to this mess and It appears the Military hasd got things pretty much in hand don't it? This is Chiangmai, Shinawatra Country, I wonderin' what it's gonna be like in the streets up here...
Can't say I think this anything other than a good thing though. Had to happen. No real surprises here are there? Overdue in my estimation; interesting times ahead. My guess is Taksin had some forewarning; he has been conveniently absent from the country quite a bit lately.
Whatever you may say about the dude he ain't stupid. Regardless what the dude says while posturing for the cameras; what's the sepculation on him not returning? (We all know what he says has no bearing on reality anyway)
How much of his money has he got rat-holed away offshore?
Where is his family?
What does one wear to a coup anyway?
Hope a tee-shirt and levis is OK.
Guess I'll be takin' my camera with me wherever I go...
Thihk I can get myself shot?
Funeral is over, best funeral I have ever seen and oh so sad. I even shed a tear when his daughter got up to speak.....
anyway back to the coup.
Australian Government is warning all travellers not to travel to Thailand.
Phil could answer that for you, he's in the know with habadashery. I'd say something green, woodland green, and a polished and well-oiled pistol. What does one wear to a coup
