Three out of the four columns of the bridge can be seen. On top of them is the royal insignia of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn). According to a Bangkok administration officer, one the insignia fell in the water during the dismantlement of the Chaloem Sawan 58 Bridge in 1971. It is not known however whether it has been recovered.
The students on the picture are most likely studying at Thammasat University nearby.

Scene here in Nong Khai [1897], another inspection tour by trusted advisor Prince Damrong Rajanubhab - in a series of royal goodwill travels that continued from the mid-1890s well into the late Chulalongkorn era.
