guess you can venture as far up as saphan Phra Nang Klao,
from there to Koh Kred the water is rather shallow

Yeah, the river systems and klong disappearance - plus the advant of damming - has significantly changed the riverine landscape over the last 100 + years.

I assume those tall tubes are grain silos, still cammoflaged post war.

I believe, it's the protection process while Chedi reconstruction goes on, as those are somewhat temporary. Notice the scaffold everywhere?
