Originally built by HM King Chulalongkorn in 1909 along Rajavithee Road and Samsen Canal for his ailing days. By the time of his passing in 1910, it was only used as a part-time residence by HRH Queen Saovabhi Bongsri until her passing in 1919....

The famed French explorer, diplomat, and colonial civil sevant [standing, second from right] visits Bangkok.
During the later half of the 1880s, King Chulalongkorn had developed a countrywide expansion of "government" with provincial administrators as well as a sorted local military agencies. Created mostly, to discourage the numerous provincial rebellions and insurections that occured throughout the late 1880s well into the mid 1890s.
On some of these photos you can tell the years of humidity has affected the pics drastically
